Beauty products for days

Have you ever thought about what was in your skin care and hair products? Yeah, neither have I, until someone told me a lot of mascaras and lipsticks were made with whale parts. Now, I’m unsure if that’s completely true or not, but it gave me a little motivation to look into what ingredients were in the products I was using.

I previously used MAC make up and anything I could find at Sephora, and once I began looking into it, I discovered most make up companies test on animals or they contain animal derived ingredients.

With knowledge of this new information, I automatically googled Vegan make up (thinking that “vegan make up” was a little ridiculous because I basically just assumed all make up was vegan). These were my findings and what I Bought. P.S. I’m not like a complete bargain shopper, but I try to get the biggest bang for my buck, so sorry if these are above (or below) the price you’re willing to spend.

At Au Naturale, I found the company on google, I bought foundation, concealer and bronzer – these are amazing. I love them and they don’t affect my skin whatsoever (my skin is annoyingly sensitive, by the way). They’re also half of what I paid for MAC make up, I think all of it was around $100, and it’ll last me around 4 months or so. I don’t know if stores like Sephora or Ulta sell them, but I just bought them online.

The other products I bought were mascara, eyeliner, face primer, eyebrow liner, eyebrow filler and bamboo make up brushes – all from Tarte Cosmetics. Fun fact, tarte cosmetics has a whole section (online) for vegan make up. Separately, Target sells a brand called Pacifica – they make all vegan products. I bought eyeshadow, lotion and perfume.

I also looked into my shampoos. I used to use color treated shampoos from salons; never the same kind, I always switched off. When I looked online I found a lot of vegan shampoos and conditioners, but a lot of them were stupid-expensive, then I found L’OREAL (at target) made products that were vegan – they were $6.99, too.

Shampoo:

Conditioner:

Leave-In conditioner:

Along with these, I also found L’OREAL dry-shampoo – it works great, unfortunately, I already used it all, so I didn’t get to take a picture. ****Note to self: need to get more****

I bought a Body Wash, too; I found it at Whole Foods, and it’s not L’OREAL. Also, the scent was just a holiday one, so they aren’t selling anymore :( but if you use body wash, rather than soap, I suggest this brand.

Body Wash:

Another company I buy from is called Toms of Maine; they sell toothpaste, floss, deodorant, mouth wash, etc. – all cruelty free. And these are basically all the products I use. If you’re willing to spend the money, and change your products, I recommend all of these. Happy shopping :)
