Cape Town Restaurant #22 in the World!

Cape Town’s top restaurant, The Test Kitchen situated in the heart of edgy Woodstock, has climbed to no. 22 in the World’s Top 50 Restaurants. This is up from its position held last year at no.28.

The prestigious accolade was named at the 2016 edition of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, sponsored by Acqua Panna and S.Pellgrino and The Test Kitchen is the only restaurant in Africa to make the top 50, with the next local darling, La Colombe, coming in at number 76. The announcement was made on Monday 13 June in a ceremony in New York.

“Every dish is a visual delight, layered with aroma, colour, flavour and texture in a clean, balanced and subtle style,” says Eat Out critic Graham Howe in his review of The Test Kitchen for the 2016 Eat Out magazine. Chief judge Abigail Donnelly said, “Creativity, talent, innovation and oh, the food! This is what places The Test Kitchen at the forefront of South African dining,” he says.

The (now) famous dining establishment is juxtaposed by Luke Dale-Roberts’ other ventures. It’s younger sibling Pot Luck Club specialises in more relaxed globally-inflected sharing plates, while Naturalis is a springboard forThe Test Kitchen and offers deli-style food with a difference.

A collaboration with his wife, Sandaled will see the opening of the Shortmarket Club in July.

Cape Town his fortunate to regard Luke Dale-Roberts as one of its talented residents.
