The Selection

I am continuing this week looking for DASH friendly recipes.  Since we are looking forward to some good Christmas time feasting days towards the end of this week, I thought I would keep with the spirit of DASH and go vegetarian.

We tend to keep black Beans in the cupboard and have sweet peppers as a favorite fruit vegetable.  To test the waters further, I thought I would also round out the whittlerz.com ingredients with tomato.  Quite a few chili and burrito recipes were returned.  At the bottom of the list of 250 returned recipes was the black beans and peppers recipe.  It included a jalapeño pepper.  Even better.

The Preparation

Chop, chop, chop.  That was most of the work on this one.  Another single pot stove recipe (perhaps I need to look for more difficult recipes to enhance my growing cooking skills).  I added a second jalapeño to make sure it really was spicy.  I kept some of the veins and seeds in the chopped jalapeños to make even more certain the outcome was spicy.

The Outcome

Great vegetarian dish!  Not just spicy hot, but also hot temperature wise.  A good dish for a winter's evening.
