    The Selection

It's Superbowl Sunday!  Last year we had awesome Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches.  I wanted to stay somewhat traditional.  There is nothing more traditional to go with football than chicken wings.  To find today's recipe I relied on a Google search.  The Food and Wine web site had over 30 variations of chicken wing recipes.  After reviewing several recipes, the East Meets West recipe looked appealing from the pictures and offered a non-fry based preparation.

    The Preparation

I coated the chicken in vegetable oil as described in the recipe.  When Cooking in the oven, the combination of the oil and chicken cooking produced quite a bit of fluid.  So instead of browning, it was more like boiling the chicken in a shallow fluid.  I let it cook a little over an hour instead of the recommended 45 minutes to get some browning on the chicken.

Preparing the Sauce was very easy.  Except for chopping scallions and ginger, it was really just adding ingredients to a blender and mixing.  After cooking in the oven, I kept the chicken cooking in the sauce for about 10 minutes.

    The Outcome

Excellent!  I kept the Sriracha sauce to the amount specified in the recipe, so the chicken was not overly hot.  It was initially sweet, then a little spice catching up to you.  After cooking in the sauce, the wings fell off the bones.
