The Selection

My initial motivation this week was to find a Recipe for a cut of beef I have not used previously.  I navigated down the whittlerz.com food hierarchy through beef to find beef chuck.  Definitely not something that has been used before on my journey.

While looking through the whittlerz search results, I noticed that many of the recipes required either a long marinating time or long Cook time.  On one of the previous weeks I was specifically searching for recipes with overnight preparation or long cook times.  I guess the key is that tougher cuts of meat will need the longer cook times.

When I saw the Boeuf Bourguignon entry, I figured I may as well prepare 2 French sounding recipes in a row.

The Preparation

This was the toughest recipe I have encountered so far.  It took close to 1 and 1/2 hours to get everything prepared and into the pot for the 3 - 4 hour cook time.  The recipe indicates you can make it the night before and re-heat.  Either way, you will be pretty exhausted after preparation.

The Outcome

Absolutely fantastic!!  I cheated and tasted a bit 3 hours into cooking and I was completely amazed at the flavor.  Quite a bit of work to make, but a great way to feed a good sized family on a budget.
