SOYA MOMOS – CHINESE RECIPE
Momo is one of my favorite dishes. The origin of Momo is in Tibet, but now it is very popular all through the globe. Momo is traditionally made with beef, Sichuan pepper and peanut. Today I am going to present an exclusive veg momo taken from Chinese cuisine.
INGREDIENTS FOR WRAP
1. All purpose flour 250 gm
2. Salt 1 pinch
3. Refine oil 2 tsp
4. Water as required
INGREDIENTS FOR FILLING
1. Soya granules 1 cup (boiled)
2. Grated tofu/ paneer 1 cup
3. Onion 1 medium size (chopped)
4. Ginger (chopped) 1 tbsp
5. Green chili 2 (chopped)
6. Tomato sauce 2 tbsp
7. Sweet chili sauce 2 tbsp
8. White pepper powder 1 tsp
9. Salt to taste
10. Refine oil 2 tbsp
11. Dalda 1 tsp (vanaspati oil/ vegetable oil)

PROCESS FOR MAKING WRAP
· Mix flour, salt and oil, add little amount of water at a time and knead into a soft dough
· Cover the dough with a wet, clean cloth for an hour
PROCESS FOR FILLING
· Heat oil in a pan, add tofu and soya granules
· Add salt and pepper, mix well
· Cook for 2 or 3 minutes
· Add tomato and sweet chili sauces, mix well, remove from the heat
· Add onion, ginger and chilies, add dalda, mix well and keep aside the mixture
· Make 12 equal size balls with the dough
· Roll out each ball, fill in the mixture around 1 tbsp full
· Fold the wrapper in to half circle shape
· Brush oil on the edges and join both edges using your finger tips, make 12 momos
Brush oil on momos and steam for 10/15 minutesServe with your favorite sauce
