Last weekend we were invited by Wynsors World of Shoes to #WalkwithWynsors at Brockholes in Preston. We've been to Brockholes before and loved it there, so we were really excited to go again with fellow bloggers and family, and use the opportunity to explore other parts of Brockholes that we've never been before.



Wynsors World of Shoes were really kind and sent both kids a pair of Bogs wellies each, which were proven to be very useful on the day, because it was a proper wet Autumn day!

We love the colours and they look great on the kids! They are sturdy and well made, and the handles were really helpful when it comes to putting them on too. They are tall enough so that the kids can really enjoy themselves in the muddy grass field without me worrying about soggy and dirty pants at all! We are really happy with the Bogs wellies, and know exactly what to get and where to buy for the kids when they have grown out from these!

Raining before the walk

On the day of our walk, the weather decided to take a turn and started raining on us (it's been sunny for the previous few days!). I guess it's not really an Autumn walk without the wetness, so we got the full experience haha. I guess I'm exaggerating a bit, it did stop raining when the walk started, so we had a very enjoyable walk.

Brockholes is a beautiful nature reserve, which is built over 5 years ago on an old quarry, owned and managed by the Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside. Their Visitor Village is what's most impressive as it's built on a floating platform!

We normally hang around the Visitor Village and the large outdoor playground. This time, Wynsors of Shoes and Wildlife Trust showed us another part of Brockholes that made us want to go back again soon - the Meadow Trail, which starts from the Visitor Village, and goes around the playground and car park.

Nature and wildlife

The Meadow Trail takes about an hour, maybe an hour and a half with kids to complete, but it felt like it was less than half an hour! We really enjoyed the walk and the scenery, and the temperature was perfect too (no rain, no sun), making it really comfortable.

Each child was given a snack bag to bring along with them, which I thought was really thoughtful of Wynsors and Shoes' PR. We are quite inexperienced and would have forgotten something, but they have got us covered for the day.

At the end of the trail, we ended at the playground area, and the kids all rushed off to play. It's like a reward for the kids to complete the trail!
After all the outdoor fun, we were greeted with an amazing lunch buffet! There was plenty of delicious food, hot ones too! And the much needed hot drinks! The kids were given snack packs, but they couldn't resist our food either. Diet wise I doubt I progressed much that day, but it was so worth it!

Overall we had an amazing day out thanks to Wynsors World of Shoes, as well as Debbie and Terri from the Wildlife Trust. They have certainly opened our eyes, and showed us that Autumn nature walks can be really enjoyable. We were also given goodie bags, which will come in handy for our next walk!
