Behind the Food: Coke Farm

Full Circle works with the best farmers, ranchers and artisan producers in the industry to source only top-quality organic produce and other all-natural foods for our members. This week, we’re taking a deeper look at a San Juan Bautista-based farm that holds California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) certificate #001.

Coke Farm

In 1981, Dale Coke’s neighbor (who grew conventional berries) bet Dale that strawberries couldn’t be grown organically. To prove him wrong, Coke successfully grew one acre of organic strawberries, winning the bet and founding Coke Farm in the process. With California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) certificate #001, Coke was a true visionary in a niche industry that would expand exponentially over the following decades.

Today, Dale and his wife, Christine, operate Coke Farm on more than 400 acres, harvesting nearly fifty crop varieties and working with other local organic producers to provide sales, cooling and shipping.

Coke Farm and Full Circle

Success of the farm hinges on the dedicated harvesting and packing crews that work extremely hard to get products to market–in fact, some of the foreman have been with the farm for over 25 years!

Coke Farm views itself as a “wholesale farmers market” and believes that people should feel connected to farmers and ranchers through the food they eat. Working with Full Circle allows the farm to put a face behind the food it provides while reaching more consumers and being creative with its product offerings. Full Circle is proud to partner with Coke Farm.
