Rosé Raspberry Lemonade

A Tasty Page original recipe

OK, I know that it hasn’t been the best week with the hurricanes, flooding, earthquakes, and DACA being rescinded (I mean, really?). My heart truly goes out to everyone affected by these tragic events. But I have faith that everything will work out for the absolute best. Stay strong!

Yet, despite these events, there was some good stuff that happened this week, giving us reasons to celebrate: a new Royal baby is on the way, a new baby for Kim & Kanye is on her way too, Beyoncé, Leslie Jones, and Pink celebrated their birthdays this week, AND my favorite reason to celebrate: Sam Smith released his new song, “Too Good at Goodbyes” today (today!) and I am in love. His voice is the equivalent of Avenue’s whipped ricotta with local honey on grilled crostini: absolute heaven.

I may be slightly obsessed with Sam Smith. But in a healthy, “he’s so talented-I love his work” kind of way. I mean, I won’t be part of a “Dateline” or “48 Hours” episode about crazy fans or anything like that (even if I do refer to him sometimes as “my cuddle buddy”. He’s just so adorable!).

When “Stay With Me” first came out I thought, “Who is this?!” Then my friend, Newby, gave me a copy of his album and I fell instantly in love. And when I love something, I really love it. I listened to that album and anything else that he put out every day for two years straight. Every. Single. Day. Then a couple of years ago, I was lucky enough to see Sam Smith in concert and I’m pretty sure my heart stopped the minute the lights went down and then started beating again when he left the stage. Literally, the most amazing vocal performance I had ever seen in my life. Even though it’s been a couple of years, I haven’t been able to let go of Sam Smith’s amazing performance.

Speaking of not letting go, let’s hold on to Summer for a little while longer, OK? Don’t get me wrong, I’m ready for Fall and the nice crisp, cool days ahead. Plus Fall gives us Thanksgiving, which means mashed potatoes and stuffing are on the horizon – and that’s always a good thing.

But Summer has such an easy feeling to it, so it’s hard to just let it go. Plus it’s peak rosé season (though I break the rules and drink it year round. I also wear white after Labor Day. Oh, the horror!).

Even though today is only four days after Labor Day and summer has unofficially ended, it’s still technically summer. What better way to keep the summer spirit than to combine the best drinks of the summer: rosé and lemonade.

On one of my trips to Trader Joe’s the sample drink was their lemonade, which was very nice. Then I strolled on over to the wine and cheese tasting table and the wine was rosé. I couldn’t help but to think that the combination of the two would be great and would just capture summer in a glass.

I looked down at the pint of raspberries already in my cart and thought that they would be a great addition to the rosé lemonade. Plus look at how pretty they are!

So, cheers to all the good things that happened this week (especially Sam Smith’s new song!). I’m also raising my glass to all the people that are in the middle of storms – both literally and figuratively. Things may seem dark now, but have faith and trust that things will get better and that there are lots of genuinely good people that will help you to make things better.

Cheers to you! Cheers to the helpers! Cheers to my cuddle buddy! And cheers to me because today is my birthday
