Fried Onion Green Gram Soup:
Winters are the times I personally feel difficult to eat heavy meals even for the Lunch..!!
Hence I came up with the Idea of cooking Soup, Salad and Porridge (with a Curry) for winters.!!
And as a part of Today’s Menu I tried this Soup..!!
Ingredients for 4 Bowls of Soup:
- Green Gram: 1 Small Cup full
- Onion : 1 Medium Sized.
- Rice Flour : 1 Table Spoon Full.
- Oil: 2 Tea Spoons.
- Jeera/ Cumin : 1 Tea Spoon.
- Tamarind Pulp: 1 Tea Spoon.
- Fresh Coriander: Few Leaves
- Salt: as Needed.
- Sugar: A pinch
- Green Chillies: Maximum 2 in Nos.
- Coarsely Pounded Pepper: 1 Tea Spoon.
Procedure:
- Pressure Cook the Green Gram along with Cumin Seeds and Chillies for 6 Whistles..!!
- Mean while, Heat the oil, Chop Onion Finely and fry brownish and add a Pich of sugar and keep it Aside..!!
- Now Take the Cooked Green Gram and Chillies, mash well, add enough water to the broth.
- Take a Soup Pan, add the Broth, mashed Green Gram -chilly, Coriander, Fried Onions, Salt, Tamarind Pulp and add a Spoon of Rice Flour and boil for 10 minutes..!!
- Check the taste.
- Finally add Freshly Pounded Pepper and allow to boil for 2 minutes.
- Finally Close the lid and let it Settle for 5 min..!!
- Serve Hot this season..!!
Tips:
- Sometimes, I even choose Aamchur ( Dry Mango) powder to Tamarind Pulp and tastes Yummy too..!!
- Burnt Garlic can be used too..!!
