Mango Pulihora

Mango Pulihora or Mango Rice is an South-Indian recipe and this rice variety generally prepared during festivals or any occasion and the preparation process is quite similar to lemon rice but her we are using raw mango instead of lemon. It is seasonal food because raw mango is obtained only at summer so everyone try this recipe because raw mangoes is available in only one season. I prepare this recipe frequently in my house because my kids like this rice variety because of its tangyness, spicyness and crispyness because here i add fried dhals ….Hmmm……..so……yummy…my mouth become watering while i am talking about taste of this recipe.

It is very healthy and hygeinic because here we are very less amount of oil and the main ingredient here is mango and all of us know it is rich in vitamin A and C ,calcium, iron, magnesium .It helps to extract wastes in our body due to its acidic nature it controls constipation and also helps to digest easily.

Ingredients:-

  • Raw Mango-1 medium sized
  • rice-2 cups
  • water-4cups
  • chana dhal-1 tbsp
  • urad dhal-1 tbsp
  • Ground nuts-3 tbsp
  • mustard seeds-1 tsp
  • cumin seeds-1/4 tsp
  • red chillies-1 to 2
  • green chillies-2 to 3
  • turmeric powder-a pinch
  • hing-1 pinch
  • curry leaves
  • coriander leaves
  • salt to taste
  • cashews as your wish

Preparation Method:-

  1. Wash and rinse rice twice or thrice, soak it for 15 min, later cook rice for small cooker 3 whistles enough. Grate mango and keep both aside.
  2. Heat oil in a wide bottomed pan add ground nuts stir it for 2 to 3 min later add chana dhal, urad dhal, cumin seeds, mustard seeds stir it till mustard seeds spluttered later add green chilies, curry leaves, cashews, hing, turmeric powder again mix it for 2 min.switch off the flame and transfer into wide basin or bowl.
  3. Add boiled rice into the same bowl or basin mix it well now add grated mango and salt mix it well.
  4. Serve this mango rice by garnishing with coriander leaves.

Note:-Add grated mango depending upon your taste because some people like heavy tangyness but some people likes little tangyness.
