Monster Mint Mocktail: Spooky Mojito

Creating holiday-themed drinks makes entertaining fun! We tend to focus on adult-only beverages, but the kids will love this Monster Mint Mocktail. A lime and mint based flavor profile that can be turned into a Spooky Mojito for the adults with the addition of rum.

Holiday-themed drinks are all about presentation!

To start making this Monster Mint Mocktail, you first need to find the perfect glassware. Serving it in a skull shaped glass or really fun skeleton cup makes this drink really stand out. The drink ware becomes part of your decor as well. The Monster Mint Mocktail can be made in individual glasses with the ingredients set out like a “Make Your Own” bar or you can make a big batch in a punch bowl.

The base of the drink is mint simple syrup. Simple syrup is just water and sugar that has been heated until all of the sugar dissolves. By adding in chopped mint while the syrup heats, you get a light mint flavor that is refreshing and cooling. You can make a variety of simple syrups so that each person can customize their drink.

You will strain the mint out of the syrup and let it come back to room temperature. Store the syrup in a glass container that will make it easy to pour. If you would like, add in some green food coloring to the simple syrup to make it a super spooky monster mixture.

Time to assemble your Monster Mint Mocktail!

Now comes the fun part: assembling the drink. Start by adding ice into your monster glassware. Add in one tablespoon of mint simple syrup, chopped mint leaves (this is optional as some kids won’t want the leaves in their drink), lime sparkling water, and top with a scoop of lime sherbet.

You can adjust the amount of simple syrup if the kids would like it sweeter or use a lemon lime soda versus the sparkling water. The lime sherbet gives it that much more of a fun spooky look to the Monster Mint Mocktail.

If you are going to make it in a punch bowl, simply leave out the ice and mix the simple syrup, sparkling water, and lime sherbet in a large bowl. The lime sherbet will cool down the drink, but you can have ice on the side for your guests to add to their glasses.

Make it a spooky mojito!

For the adults-only crowd, set a bottle of rum to the side with a shot glass. When the adults want a cocktail, they can just add rum to their drink to make it a spooky mojito!
