Baked Prosciutto Wrapped Dates

Healthy snacking is simple with these Baked Prosciutto Wrapped Dates. Cut, wrap, and bake is all it takes for this sweet salty snack that’s great for a mid-day snack craving, party appetizer, or after school snack.

How to make Baked Prosciutto Wrapped Dates

Ideally all you will need to purchase thinly sliced Prosciutto that you can find at any grocery store and pitted dried dates. Most grocery stores carry dates now and the pits are simple to take out if you can’t find the pitted ones. Prosciutto typically comes in longer slices, so begin by cutting each slice in half width wise.

You will then fold each section in half length wise, then wrap around the date. Place each wrapped date on a sheet pan that is lined with parchment paper. As the Prosciutto Wrapped Dates are baked, they will caramelize. They could stick to the pan if it is not lined with either parchment paper or a baking mat.

Healthy snacking is just 20 minutes away!

Bake the Prosciutto Wrapped dates in the oven at 400ºF for 20 minutes or until fully browned on the outside. The baked dates can be served warm, room temperature, or even cold. Trust me I have eaten them cold a few times and they are tasty! You could make a creamy/nutty dipping sauce for the dates, but they are good with just the two ingredients listed.

I have stuffed the dates before with either nuts like cashews and I have even stuffed them with cheese. Cream cheese would work in this, but a harder cheese like Parmesan or even cheddar is easier to stuff the small dates with for a variation on the recipe. You just have to cut a small slit in the side of the date to open it up, stuff, then wrap with the prosciutto and bake.
