Blueberry BBQ Sauce Recipe

Amp the sweetness level of your Bbq Sauce by adding in blueberries. The blue and red combination in this Blueberry BBQ Sauce Recipe is the perfect way to get you in the mood for outdoor grilling on Memorial Day or the 4th of July.

Growing up, I was personally never a huge fan of blueberries. Sure, I’d eat them if they were mixed into something, but never just plain blueberries. Fast forward to me having my own children, and now I’m constantly buying blueberries for my girls. I, too, have come to enjoy them as well. It’s amazing how a few years can change your taste buds. Moving to New Jersey, the blueberry capital of the world, has definitely made me appreciate those small, blue (purple?) bursts of goodness more than ever before. The girls will eat blueberries fresh, frozen, puréed; it really doesn’t matter, but they are always begging for more.

With blueberry season right around the corner, I know that we will be buying them even more frequently. One thing that I’ve been trying to do more of since we purchased our home is learning my way around the grill. I’ve always loved grilling, but before being a homeowner, it was pretty much burgers and hot dogs. Since moving into our home, I’ve done so much more, from pizza to grilled peaches and more. I’ve been working on grilling fruits recently, however, blueberries are really something you can’t just throw on the grill.

Everyone gobbled it up. We’ve put it on chicken ourselves, but it would also be amazing on pork chops, in the slow cooker with chicken or pork tenderloin for pulled sandwiches, or basted over grilled fruit like pineapple. It’s also the perfect dipping sauce for summer as well.

So go ahead, grab your blueberries, and let’s get to grilling!
