The Most Basic Bone Broth Recipe

All 15 Paleo bone broth recipes below build upon this very basic recipe – because, all you need for bone broth really is 1) bones and 2) water. Most people also add a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar (it’s believed the vinegar helps minerals to be extracted from the bones).

  • 3-4 lbs of bones
  • 1 gallon water
  • 2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Add everything to the crockpot (or a large pot if you don’t have a crockpot).
  2. Cook on low setting in crockpot for 10 hours.
  3. Cool the broth, strain and pour broth into container.

I always used to get confused about what to call a stock and what to call a broth, and as it turns out bone broth should really be called bone stock. Both words are used pretty interchangeably now, so just drink this nutritious bone broth and don’t worry about the name.
