As mentioned earlier, shrimp contains a great amount of protein. In fact, you’ll get about 12 grams of it in a three-ounce serving. And it also has low fat, carb and calorie content. If you’re starting to crave a great stir-fry with high protein content, read on so we can prepare and cook this simple, but satisfying dish!

Cook the Shrimp and Broccoli with Oyster Sauce dish with me:

Let’s prepare some ingredients before frying!
Start by getting 1 lb of shrimp, which we will need to peel and devein. Deveining is when you take out the black string down a shrimp’s back, which is actually its intestine. Doing this step keeps you away from the bacteria that this could possibly carry.

After deveining your shrimp, you can start working on your broccoli florets. If you bought regularly cut broccoli at the market, you can try to get smaller pieces out of these. You can do this by cutting the head into smaller pieces. Then you will take away the thick stock to get broccoli florets. These are also the small trees that seem to be growing from the stem of a broccoli.

And before we get started on the mixing and the frying, you will need to get a teaspoon amount of ginger. Then start grating your ginger, which we will use for our deliciously piquant sauce.
Let’s start making our sauce!

Gather all your sauce ingredients, which to enrich your shrimp and broccoli with savory, sweet flavor. In a bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce, 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 3 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of grated ginger, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, ½ teaspoons of garlic powder, 1 ½ tablespoons of cornstarch, ¼ teaspoon of ground white pepper and ½ cup of water.

Once you have all of these components together, give it a good mix until it has been blended enough. Then set this aside so we can work on our broccoli and shrimp.

Let’s start frying!
Pour 2 tablespoons of cooking oil onto a pan or wok of your choice, and let this heat up. This step can help prevent the food from sticking. Then get 1 cup of broccoli florets, and give yourself 1 minute to stir-fry it. After this, remove the broccoli from the pan and save it for later.

Now it is time to work on the 1 lb worth of shrimp we deveined earlier on. Start by pouring the remaining oil, which is 1 tablespoon, into the pan. Then wait for it heat up, and proceed to place your shrimp inside. Start stir-frying your shrimp, and make sure it absorbs the heat equally. And you’ll know you’re good to go once the shrimp turns a shade of orange.

Then we can integrate the broccoli we stir-fried a while ago, as well as our sauce. Make sure to stir these ingredients gently, and watch as the flavors come together. Keep at this pace with your stir-frying until you notice that your sauce has thickened to the consistency you prefer it to be.

And then, for an optional step, you can proceed to sprinkle about 2 teaspoons of sesame seeds on top. This is to add a bit more crunch to your texture. Then get ready to chow down on this delicious plate of shrimp and broccoli, stir-fried in rich, brown sauce, by placing the ingredients on your pan onto a serving plate.
