juice detox

last week i tried a Juice detox. i fancied doing this for a while now and since it was – 20%, i finally made it a reality. besides there are 1-2 persistent kilos that i can’t seem to shake, so it was the perfect point in time.in spring i already researched the huge variety of juice detox offerings. felt like one was more expensive than the other though. and to top it off most of them are mainly fruit based which in my mind means a lot of fructose, so a lot of calories. nonetheless i decided on the 3 day package from urban monkey, although there is only 1 green juice in it.

delivery worked nice and easy – between 4 and 7 in the morning (without being woken up, mien even arrived the night before) you find your package on your doorstep and can immedietly start your detox. the accompaning guide briefly informs you about the recommende drinking order of juices and some things that one should be aware off when doing a juice detox. i sorted all juice and put them in daily order in the fridge (it would be helpful if the bottles were numbered. there is a number next to the juice name but that is always teh same for the same juice. still don’t know what it means). 6 juices per day, every 2-3 hours one. despite the high fruit percentage the 6 juices together stay belwo 1000 kcal.

and then i was already fully in it. i did not forgo my herbal tea. since i felt still quite full from it, i drank my first juice at 9:30. iron man kicked it off (apple, pineapple, spinach, kale & mint). the apple gave it a nice sweetness and the mint made it nicely fresh. at about noon pine fiction followd (apple, pear, pineapple, lime, curcuma, cayenne pepper) – boy that cayenne had some spice. i liked it thoug. gets everything started. so that’s how it went on until the evening. i was only able to drink 5 juices, since i didn’t really want one at half past 9. the same happend on day 2 and 3 – so i still have 3 juices in my fridge.

i have to say i was very positively surprised: the whole 3 days i did not have any ravenous appetite. i did feel the difference between being in the office or at home though. when your are busy and your mind occupied, you don’t even have time to think about food. on the couth at home the temptation is much bigger. especially if everyone on tv is eating, mainly pizza (it never looked sooo good). that’s when you realize how much food is on tv – whenn you aren’t “allowed” to eat. also i didn’t have any problems with fatigue, headaches or feeling weak. it is mainly a mind thing. if you set your mind on not eating, your body will follow. besides mine is used to sometimes eating not much, so it wasn’t that much of a stretch. i could have done it 2-3 more days, but i didn’t want to.

i’m not sure how much detoxing body actually did, but i lost 2 kg (probably have them back soon due to the yoyo effect) and i enjoy and appreciate food much more again. and on top i proofed to myself that i can do it and don’t have to give in to my cravings. maybe i do a juice day more often now, won’t hurt.

note: this is not a promotion, i did the detox at my own expense.
