San Diego Oktoberfest

San Diego Oktoberfest

We will be marking the re-opening of our deli counter by celebrating the San Diego Oktoberfest. First a bit of history and then more about what we will be serving.

Crown Prince Ludwig, later to become King Ludwig I, was married to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on 12th October 1810. The citizens of Munich were invited to attend the festivities held on the fields in front of the city gates to celebrate the happy royal event. The fields have been named Theresienwiese (“Theresa’s fields”) in honor of the Crown Princess ever since, although the locals have since abbreviated the name simply to the “Wies’n”.

Horse races in the presence of the Royal Family marked the close of the event that was celebrated as a festival for the whole of Bavaria. The decision to repeat the horse races in the subsequent year gave rise to the tradition of the Oktoberfest which we continue to celebrate today.

San Diego Oktoberfest this year will be honored by Rotisserie Affair Catering every day from October 4th until October 6th.

$9.95 gets you a dine in or take out traditional sausage with home made sides served on a steak roll.

Our Deli will be open from 11.00am each of the 3 days. We look forward to seeing you there.

Contact us for further information about this event or about any of your other catering needs.
