My Paleo Patisserie Review

I have something (or things) lovely to share with you today and you can thank the lovely Mrs. Jenni Hulet, otherwise known as The Urban Poser! I am talking about my new absolute favorite cookbook, My Paleo Patisserie.  This paleo baking guide is the best thing since sliced bread… or tartes, cake, marshmallows… the list goes on. A little back story for you on how this book came to me (and soon one of you lucky readers!) As you know, I started with paleo back in the fall of 2012  and The Urban Poser was one of the very first blogs I found and fell in love with. Jenni’s photography, love for yoga, and personality in her writing drew me in quickly and kept me around. The recipes helped too As soon as I knew Jenni was writing this baking guide I knew I would pre-order the second it was available, and I did!

Lucky for me, Jenni and I have become Insta-friends and she also happens to be from Minnesota and is coming here FRIDAY for a book signing! Jenni wrote to me saying she would send me the book early and BOY was I thrilled. As soon as it arrived I poured over it and salivated at nearly every picture in the book. The photography is stunning, the information is incredibly educational but easy to understand, and the recipes are to die for. I can’t even explain the heart and soul that went into this masterpiece; it is every bit as wonderful as I anticipated and actually vastly surpassed my expectations. I didn’t even know a cookbook could be this brilliant.

After much deliberation and drooling I decided to make three things because I just couldn’t decide: The Maple Carrot Cake with Swiss Meringue Buttercream, the Citron Tart with Shortbread Crust, and the Marshmallows. Fun fact: marshmallows have been my favorite food since I was a toddler. To this day S’mores are my kryptonite.

Vanilla Marshmallows

All three recipes were incredible. I can’t even to begin to tell you how much I love the marshmallows. I can’t even. I tried toasting them over the stove too… it was semi-successful and fully-delicious. The carrot cake was moist and fluffy with tons of flavor. I could eat it every day. The citron tart was luscious and the perfect mix of tart and sweet. It was a HUGE hit at Easter and when I brought the remaining 1/3 home I decided I had to finish it off before it went bad… it was not difficult to do so.

If you are looking for a paleo baked goods book you must go with My Paleo Patisserie. I have baked from other paleo cookbooks before and there is really just no reason to ever do that again. Big statement, but 100% true. I don’t even want to keep baking new things for you guys because Jenni puts them all to shame! The best part? You likely already have nearly all the ingredients to make most of the recipes. There aren’t weird things like guar gum, potato starch, xanthum gum, or other weird ingredients. Just good, clean foods.

AND NOW, the giveaway that you are looking for! It only goes until Friday, so hop to it!

Also, if you live in the Twin Cities or really anywhere driveable from Minneapolis you should absolutely come to Jenni’s book signing on Friday at 7pm at the Barnes and Noble in Edina. I will be there and you should come too! Click here to RSVP and join the party!
