Fish Manchurian

An Indo-Chinese recipe. Learn how to make Fish Manchurian in easy steps.

Ingredients :
  • 500gm fresh fish (boneless, cubed and washed)
  • 4 tsp all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 4 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 green chillies (chopped)
  • 2 tsp tomato puree
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • Red chilli paste (Dry red chillies ground with water)
  • 2 tsp corn-flour
  • 1/2 tsp Ajinomoto
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • salt to taste
  • water as needed
  • oil
  • vinegar to taste
  • coriander leaves
Recipe :
  1. Marinate fish cubes with salt, lemon juice and pepper powder. And keep aside for 15 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix corn flour, maida, egg, ginger-garlic paste and salt. Add water as needed to form a thin batter.
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Dip the marinated fish pieces in the batter and fry for 5 minutes till they get golden brown. Remove them on a tissue paper.
  4. Heat a separate pan with 2 tsp oil. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
  5. Add onions, green chillies, mix well and cook for a minute.
  6. Now add tomato puree. Cook for a minute
  7. Add salt and sugar. Mix well.
  8. Now add soy sauce, red chilli paste and vinegar and mix well.
  9. Add corn flour batter if left. It will make the gravy thick.
  10. Pour in a cup of water with ajinomoto. Cook on low heat. Let the gravy become thick.
  11. Add pepper powder. 
  12. Now add fried fish cubes toss well with the sauce.
  13. Garnish with coriander leaves or spring onions. 
  14. Serve hot with rice. 
P.N. - You can skin ajinomoto, if you don't want to use it.
