One dish which was a favorite of Thomas Jefferson was Mac and Cheese. Some claim that it was Thomas Jefferson who introduced this popular dish to the United States.

So what makes Mac and Cheese such a much sought after dish? Well for starters it’s easy to make and only requires a few ingredients. Another plus point is that it fills you up after a couple of bites, which is good news for those who are looking for a quick meal.

The secret to a delicious tasting Mac and Cheese is the types of cheese used when making it.

Here are my 5 best cheeses for macaroni and cheese:

Brie – because it’s creamy and when added with cheeses like white cheddar and Fontina will turn a Mac and Cheese dish into one’s that’s forgettable to the palate.

Gruyere – if you’re looking for a cheese that melts perfectly for your mac and cheese, add Gruyere cheese! Don’t forget to sprinkle bits of fried chopped bacon on top to give your taste buds a real treat.

Cream Cheese – for a real creamy mac and cheese, add some cream cheese!

Monterrey Jack – now this is a cheese that for all those out there who prefer to enjoy a classic mac and cheese. It’ll give your mac and cheese a creamier and sweeter taste than other cheeses.

Finally, the fifth cheese, being one of my all-time favorite cheeses of the famous mac and cheese happens to be Cheddar!
