Plain sponge cakes are my favourites. They are versatile and can be used to make layer cakes with frosting, or served as it is with tea and also can be used to make custards, trifle, puddings, etc. I have shared several different Cake recipes in my blog which can be found in this page and today, I am going to share a simple cake recipe that uses very little butter but tastes delicious. I have kept it plain as we prefer eating plain cakes at home,but you can add butter cream or chocolate or any other frosting of your choice.
