We've had lots of fun crafting with Gel-a-Peel's Deluxe Kit, and the lovely PR has kindly offered us their 3D Design Station and Neon Kit to review and help us with our creations! We really like the 3D Design Station, you can do so much more with it! Here is a quick review, and I'll be posting our new designs on social media, showing you what you can do with the fantastic Gel-a-Peel 3D Design Station!
The Gel-a-Peel Accessory Kit (approx. £14.99, suitable for 8 years+) comes with 3 tubes of silicone gel, 5 piping tips, a tool, earring findings and a pair of snap buttons. It also comes with designs and instruction sheet. The accessory kit comes in 2 versions - Neon that we were sent and Sparkle.
The Gel-a-Peel 3D Design Station (RRP£29.99, Suitable for 8+) comes with:
- a 2 part design station, one for holding the silicone gels and piping tips, the other is the main design station that comes with 2 compartments where you can store the hardwares, tools and tips.
- 2 mobile phone case (iPhone 5 and 6) mould, which also acts as a flat surface for small 2D designs
-a cone mould
- 2 pencil top moulds
- 2 key ring attachments to turn the pencil tops to keyrings

The station is really easy to use, you can easily adjust the "arms" to hold the moulds in place, and with the colours lined up next to you, it makes it much easier for you to think of a design and what colours to use!
A tip though. There is a sealing cap inside the tube, which I normally chuck away for anything that has it. I would recommend keeping them for the Gel-a-Peel as it stops them from drying up inside the tube and forming into a massive lump that is very hard to dig out. And it's also silicone gel wasted.
Another tip is to try not to use one colour to complete a mobile phone case base like I did, as it took 2 tubes to completely cover the case I worked on at the thickness I did:
I would recommend to either stick to the design patterns provided with the 3D station with the colours you like, or make sure that you either use different colours for the base and use a thin layer for it (it will also make your phone less bulky at the end).
I never featured the case on social media because I wasn't very happy with it, but I thought I should show it here anyway, because after all it is a completed design (Abby told me off for using all the yellow haha...). Look at how bright it is!
Also, if you have larger 2D designs you want to make, or want to make a lot of small designs in one go, you can get the Gel-a-Peel deluxe kit that comes with a plastic mat as big as the design pattern sheets, so you can do a lot more 2D work on there.
Now how is this for a 3D design?!
This is my own design, but it shows you what you can do with Gel-a-Peel, and the 3D Design Station made it so much easier too!
I just piped the petals on the round cone, so that they dry with a curve. I also piped 2 tear drops for the middle of the flower, and stuck them together afterwards to form a 3D tear drop. I then stuck the petals around the tear drop layer by layer, using the silicone gel, and used half of the pencil topper mould (you can split them open) to keep the flower in shape while drying it.
It takes a bit of time and patience, but it looks really good! You can then use this for other craft projects, or turn it into a necklace/ brackelet! (Hm, there is a thought...)
I'm currently working on a bracelet as well using the Gel-a-Peel's pattern because I love all the dangly bits! You will see it soon on my social media! And I have another special design made too, which I love even more than the flower above! I can't wait to show it to you!
Oh, I think I almost forgot that this range is meant for kids haha, I'm having too much fun with it! Abby's been trying to make something too, but I think she prefer to do it together with me. SO that's what we are going to do in the weekend.
