Dinosaur Parties have always been an extremely popular party theme for all ages and that’s because they’re awesome and really interesting. Paper Mache Dino Eggs

These Paper Mache Dino Eggs is a very inexpensive decoration and would be fun to do with your children!

Materials

  • Balloons (any color will do)
  • Flour
  • Water
  • Newspaper
  • Computer paper or paper towel
  • Paint or circle stickers
  1. Make your paper mache paste by mixing 1 part flour to 5 parts water then boil them mixture for a few minutes and let cool
  2. Tear or cut newspaper into strips (do this while paste cools off)
  3. Inflate your balloon
  4. Dip strips of newspaper in the paste and cover your whole balloon and let that layer dry (you can do as many layers as you need to make it solid)
  5. Once you’re done with the newspaper, cut paper or paper towel into strips and make another layer using this.
  6. After everything has completely dries you can now decorate your (eggs) any way you’d like using paint or circle stickers

(for a more realistic look, create a nest for the eggs using sticks, hay, etc.)

Chalk dinosaur footprints

If you have kids you’re pretty likely to have some chalk laying around somewhere for this, but if not you can pick up chalk at your local store for pretty cheap. The dinosaur prints are great for guiding your guests to the party!

Materials

  • Chalk
  • Dinosaur Footprint Stencil
  1. Find a stencil or image of a dinosaur footprint online (you can make this any size you’d like)
  2. Outline the footprint with the chalk then remove the stencil and color it in with the chalk
  3. You may also do this freehand if you can draw!

Vine Doorway Decoration

Materials

  • Brown craft paper (this can be found at a craft store or online)
  • Green paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Pen
  • Banana leaf printable
  1. Print out the banana leaf printable on any type of green paper (feel free to draw them if you can)
  2. Once you print out the number of leaves you’d like, cut them out with scissors
  3. Measure the doorway you plan on putting the vine on
  4. Cut of the right amount of brown craft paper based on the measurement of your doorway (you may want to cut off more paper because it will shorted as you twist it up
  5. Twist up the brown craft paper until you’re happy with the look
  6. Secure the craft paper (or vine) to your doorway with heavy duty tape
  7. Once it’s in place, you can now add the leaves wherever you’d like with tape

Palm Tree ceiling decoration

Materials

  • Banana leaf print out
  • Green construction paper
  • Brown balloons
  • Brown streamers
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Black sharpie
  • Computer paper
  1. Print out banana leaf stencil and cut it out with scissors
  2. Lay it on the green construction paper and outline the leaf (do this 5 times)
  3. Tape the leaves on the ceiling in a star shape
  4. Cut six streamers of the same length and tape them to the center of the star shaped leaves (you can make the streamers how short or long you prefer)
  5. Inflate three brown balloons and using the sharpie, draw three circles on each balloon to make them look like coconuts. Now tape the ends of the balloons around the streamers

Tableware

Terrarium and Dinosaur

Create your own miniature prehistoric exhibit for your party using toy dinosaurs and a terrarium! You can make your own terrarium or purchase a pre-made one. This one is very simple and can be used for a table decoration and when the party's over, you can remove the dinosaurs and use it for a house decoration.

Materials

  • Crushed rock
  • Potting soil
  • Charcoal
  • Greenery of your choice
  • Circular vase
  • Dinosaur Favors
  1. Create a layer on the bottom of the vase with crushed rock
  2. Next, cover the rock layer with charcoal (this keeps the soil fresh)
  3. You will then put soil on top of the charcoal layer (Your vase should be ⅓ full once layers are in place
  4. Place the plants in the layer of soil (you can also use fake plants for decoration)
  5. This is the fun part. Place the dinosaurs in the soil however you see fit (you can paint them if you want them to look a certain way)
  6. Give the soil a nice watering so the soil is visibly wet

Dinosaurs Holding Balloons

Materials

  • Plastic dinosaurs (I recommend that you use the dinosaurs that are standing up and have little arms)
  • Balloons of any color
  • Ribbon
  1. Tie your balloons to ribbons (you can make them different lengths)
  2. Then, tie the end of the ribbon to the arm of your dinosaurs
  3. Watch the reactions of your guests when they see little dinosaurs holding onto balloons

Dinosaur Bite Plates

Materials

  • Paper Dinner Plates
  • Scissors
  1. On the edge of the plate cut a few small triangles out to mimic the dinosaur bite!

Grass Table Runner- You can pick up a realistic grass tables runner online or at a craft store to add something extra to your table setup!

Food

Fossil Cookies

Materials

  • Plastic toy insects
  • Cookies of your choice
  1. Preheat your oven to the temperature called for on the recipe
  2. Mix up the cookie ingredients
  3. Divide dough into small sized balls
  4. Using your hand, press the dough ball into an irregular shape and transfer to parchment paper
  5. Wash the plastic insects and dry
  6. Coat insects in flour and press into the dough to make the insect or fossil impressions
  7. Freeze the dough for about 30 minutes
  8. Bake in the oven for time called for on the recipe or until golden brown. Let cool

Dinosaur Bones

Material

  • Paper favor bags
  • Scissors
  • White marker
  • White chocolate covered pretzels
  1. Cut down the size of the paper favor bag if needed
  2. Using a white marker, write “Dino Bones” on each bag and let dry
  3. Fill each bag with white chocolate covered pretzels (You’re more than welcome to make your own or buy them from the store already made)
  4. Set them out on a dessert table or seal them up for take-home party favors

Watermelon Dinosaur Fruit Salad

Materials

  • Watermelon
  • Marker
  • Knife
  • Melon baller
  • Channel knife
  • Wooden skewers
  1. Cut a ¼ inch slice from the bottom of your watermelon for stability on a flat surface
  2. Use a marker to sketch the open mouth
  3. Using a knife cut out the mouth section and scoop the fruit out of the mouth area using a melon baller
  4. Cut out the nostrils and eyebrows with the channel knife
  5. Hollow out the eyes using a melon baller
  6. Attach the eyebrows and nostrils to the watermelon with toothpicks
  7. Take any type of fruit and fill the mouth with the fruit
  8. Cut wooden skewers into different lengths and stick the blunt end of the skewer into the rind, creating the teeth
  9. You can surround the watermelon with the extra fruit if you’d like

Dino Shaped Sandwiches

Materials

  • Bread
  • Meat
  • Cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Peanut butter
  • Jelly
  • Dinosaur Shaped Sandwich Cutter
  1. Put together your sandwiches as you would usually with anything you’d like (I chose pb&j’s and meat)
  2. Place the Dinosaur Cutter over the top of the sandwich and make sure it’s inside the borders of the crust
  3. Press down on the cutter until it completely cuts the sandwiches and you’re all set!

Herbivore, Omnivore, Sweetivores Labels

For a little educational lesson, you can label the foods that contain meat with “carnivore” and the foods that don’t contain meat with “herbivore” and "Sweetivores" just for fun!

Activities/Games

Frozen Dinosaur Eggs

Materials

  • Balloons
  • Toy Dinosaurs
  • Bin for melting eggs
  • Warm water
  • Eye dropper
  1. Stretch out your balloon as much as possible
  2. Open the top of your balloon and insert a toy dinosaur into the balloon
  3. Fill the balloon with water and tie the end
  4. Put the balloons in the freezer and wait until their completely frozen
  5. When they’re done freezing, cut the end knot and peel off the balloon
  6. Place them in the melting bin
  7. Use the droppers to drop warm water onto the icy dinosaur eggs (you can create a salt solution that will melt the ice quicker)

Pin the horn on the triceratops

Materials

  • Foam board
  • Triceratops Printout
  • Markers
  • Blindfold
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • White Paper
  1. Set up a foam board on a door or wall, securing it with strong tape
  2. Print out the triceratops template and color it in however you like
  3. Tape the triceratops to the foam board
  4. You can either draw simple horns on printer paper or print out a template online
  5. Cut out the horns and give one to each child to write their name on then place tape on the back of each one
  6. Blindfold the child, spin them around a few time and let them try to place the horn on the triceratops

Dinosaur hunt

This one is very simple and the kids will have an absolute blast finding the dinosaurs. All you need for this one is plastic dinosaur figures (and the kids, obviously). Hide the dinosaurs in various areas outside and once you’re done, give the kids a certain amount of time to find as many dinosaurs as possible! The kid with the most dinosaurs after the time is up gets a prize!

Movies

There are hundreds of dinosaur movies for all ages! As your party is winding down, put on a movie so everyone can relax (including you)

Inflatable Alligator Ring Toss

The best part about this Inflatable Alligator Ring Toss is that it require very little setup and you’re guests won’t want to stop playing it. All you have to do is inflate the alligator and set it up in the yard! Let the kids toss the rings and try to land it on the alligators nose.

Party Favors/Goody Bags

Dinosaur Egg Bath Bombs

We thought we’d have a small party favor for the parents, so we snuck this on here….shhh!

Materials

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • ¾ cup Cornstarch
  • ½ cup Citric Acid
  • ¼ cup Epsom Salt
  • Spray bottle filled w/ water
  • Essential oil of your choice
  • Easter eggs
  1. Sift baking soda, cornstarch, and citric acid together
  2. Lightly spray mixture with water (stirring between each time you spray)
  3. Spray the mixture until the power can be packed in your hand
  4. Add essential oil
  5. Pack the mixture into the egg mold, close them and allow to set for about 6 hours to dry properly
  6. Set in your warm bathtub and relax!

Jelly Bean Dino Eggs

Materials

  • Jelly Beans
  • Snack sized Ziploc bags
  • Card Stock
  • Markers
  • Stapler
  1. Place as many jelly beans into the snack bags
  2. Cut out the card stock to match the width of the snack bags and about 4 inches in length
  3. Fold the pieces of card stock in half lengthwise
  4. Write “Dino Eggs” on one side of the card stock
  5. Fold the pieces of paper over the sealed part of the snack bag and staple to secure

Dinosaur Shaped Crayons

Materials

  • Dinosaur silicone mold
  • Crayons
  1. Pre-heat your oven to 200° (make sure you get a heat resistant silicone tray)
  2. Break up your crayons  into small pieces
  3. Put the tray in the oven for 25 minutes
  4. Place the tray in the freezer for at least an hour
  5. Remove the tray from the freezer, turn over and pop out the crayons
