Have the following ingredients ready when you start:
- Olive oil
- Orange juice
- Lemon juice lime juice will work just as well
- Garlic
- Fajita seasoning
- Coriander powder
If you do not have fajita seasoning use:
- ground cumin
- Chili powder
- Dried oregano
- Smoked paprika
How To Make Mexican Steak Marinade For Fajitas
To make this recipe mince the garlic first and put it in a large bowl. Add the fajita seasoning and coriander powder.
Then add the orange juice, lemon juice, and oil. Take a whisk to stir the ingredients together and toss to combine.
Pour the marinade in a plastic ziplock bag and add your steak. Close the bag and make certain all of the meat is covered by the marinade.
Put the bag in the fridge so the meat can marinate.
When you are ready to grill you can take the beef out of the bag and prepare it in a cast-iron skillet.
Season your steaks to taste when they are grilled.
How Long To Marinate Steak For Fajitas
It is really fast to make the marinade but you have to calculate at least half-hour for marinading to get a great flavor.
If you have time I recommend to marinate steak between 2 to max 8 hours.
As the marinade contains lemon it will change the texture of your steak if you leave it longer.
Put the meat into the refrigerator when marinating.
Can I Make The Marinade Ahead of Time
Yes, you can but check the best by date on your orange juice. When it goes bad you do always see it straight away.
I would say you can make it about 2 to 3 days ahead of time.
