Teriyaki Beef Stir Fry

You can find teriyaki beef stir fry from most of the Asian restaurants’ menu. It is a very popular dish and it can be done easily and quickly. Teriya beef is normally served with rice or noodles. I really like teriyaki beef with vegetables in a rice bowl, so that is the version I want to show you today.

Steps of how to cook the rice are not included in the recipe. This is because I always do rice in my rice cooker. I just leave the raw rice with some water in the rice cooker, plug in the rice cooker and forget about it. The rice will get ready in 15 mins and therice cooker will keep it warm until I switch it off. If you do not use a rice cooker to cook rice, you are missing out! If you do have a rice cooker, rice/water ratio to use is 1:2. For example, 200 gram of rice will need 400ml of water.

If you are new here, welcome! You can find the printable recipe and youtube video tutorial at the end of the post.

Ingredients for this teriyaki beef stir fry

Oil, baby corn, flat bean, onion, beef (sliced), salt, sugar, oyster sauce, cornstarch, ginger, garlic, honey, soy sauce

A few things that help

To get the texture of the beef correct, you can either buy a chunk of beef, freeze it and slice it into very thin slices. Or you can purchase the already sliced beef in any Chinese supermarket in the frozen area, which I recommend. This kind of already sliced beef is normally used in Chinese hotpot cooking because they are super thin, they get cooked easily and they can absorb the flavor very easily.

I normally add some freshly chopped spring onion and white sesame seeds on top of the finished beef. This is more than a decoration process. Spring onion gives that fresh taste to the slightly oily beef and sesame seeds adds extra flavor and slight crunchiness to the dish.
