Cheese Appetizers
Looking for a unique appetizer recipe? Try our Sesame Triangles with Chili Sauce. This appetizer recipe pairs with white and sparkling wines as well as sake. White wines include: Gewurztraminer and Riesling Off-Dry. Sparkling wines include: Champagne and Prosecco. Sake includes: Sake Daiginjo.
- 4oz shrimppeeled and cooked
- 1clove garlicchopped
- 2tablespoons eggbeaten
- 1teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/2teaspoon sesame oil
- drops light soy sauceseveral
- 3slices white bread
- 2tablespoons sesame seeds
- Peanut Oilfor deep frying
- fresh ginger root1/3 inch, finely chopped
- 2tablespoons hot chili sauce
- juice of 1/2 lime
- Blend shrimp, garlic, egg, cornstarch, oil and soy sauce to a paste in a food processor. Or grind shrimp, with a pestle and mortar, mix with the other ingredients.
- Spread one side of each slice of bread evenly with shrimp paste, sprinkle with sesame seeds, remove crusts and cut into 4 triangles. To make dipping sauce, mix together ginger, chili sauce and lime juice, set aside.
- Heat 1 in / 2 1/2 cm of oil in a large skillet over a medium to high heat. Add half the shrimp triangles, meat-side down, and fry for 4-5 minutes on each side, until deep golden. Drain on paper towels and keep warm while you cook the remaining shrimp triangles. Serve with dipping sauce.
