Baked Brie with Jam

Baked Brie with Jam recipe. The basic how-to plus all the Baked Brie topping ideas to make your unique brie appetizer a homerun!

Brie is a French soft cow’s milk cheese with a greyish-white rind (that can be eaten). When baked the whole brie is used and topped with sweet and savory toppings.

This easy appetizer is perfect for holidays and special occasions like Christmas or a wedding shower. It is customizable to your taste. Mix and match jam and nut toppings to make your own unique baked brie recipe.

The rind, which can be eaten, is what holds baked brie together. Once the baked brie is sliced into, the melted cheese comes pouring out.

How to Make Baked Brie

Baked Brie with jam is an easy appetizer that looks and tastes amazing.

First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

You will want to use a cast iron skillet or parchment paper lined cookie sheet.

Place your brie into the cast iron skillet and cut 3 slits on top of the brie. This will allow all that melted cheese to burst threw the jam ensuring every bite has the perfect amount of cheese and topping.

Next, spread jam on top of the brie. Sprinkle chopped nuts on top. The nuts get toasted in the baking process. I always add a handful of whole pecans to my cast iron skillet while baking the brie. I love the extra toasted nuts with this appetizer.

Place the skillet in the oven and bake the brie for 20 minutes. The cheese will melt inside the brie rind.

Take a knife and slice open the brie so the cheese can pour out.

Serve immediately with crackers or crostini.

Types of Jams for Baked Brie

Baked Brie is completely customizable. Pick your favorite jam and your favorite topping. Here is a list of jams to get you started.

  • Raspberry Jam
  • Strawberry Jam
  • Blackberry Jam
  • Fig Jam
  • Cherry Jam
  • Apricot Jam
  • Grape Jam
  • Blueberry Jam
  • *Bonus: If you are making this for Thanksgiving top it with homemade cranberry sauce.

For the baked brie recipe below I used fig jam and pecans.

More Toppings for Baked Brie

Add crunch to your baked brie recipe with nuts. Here are the nuts we use to top our baked brie.

  • Pecans
  • Almonds
  • Walnuts
  • Pistachios
  • Cashews
  • Macadamia Nuts
  • Pine Nuts (Add pine nuts halfway through baking. Because of their small size they will burn rather than toast)

The nuts get nicely toasted in the oven too.

How to Serve Baked Brie

If you baked the brie directly in a cast iron skillet use it as your serving dish. It will keep the appetizer warm and the cheese melted.

If you baked it on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet then transfer to a serving tray or plate.

Surround the baked brie with crackers and/or crostini for dipping. Also, have a spreader knife so people can scoop the brie and jam onto their crackers.
