Bourbon and Coffee Cold Brew Cocktail

Bourbon and Coffee! It is a thing and we are loving this Cold Brew Bourbon Mocha Recipe.

Bourbon and Coffee

Bourbon in Coffee? Yes! A Cold Brew Bourbon Iced Coffee with Chocolate Syrup and Half and Half to be exact.

Sitting in Louisville, KY the heart of Bourbon Country is an outstanding restaurant called Toast on Market. I had the most amazing breakfast and a Cold Brew Bourbon Mocha. I was in love and it wasn’t the booze talking. This bourbon coffee drink was magic.

If you find yourself in Louisville this is the best breakfast place in town. In the meantime I have recreated the recipe below!

Make Some Tweaks

I got all the ingredients for this Bourbon Coffee Drink. Now it is time to measure it all out. It took a few tweaks but ultimately it will come down to your preferences. If you like a lot of cream and not a lot of chocolate GO FOR IT! You can make your own tweaks. The recipe below is a good starting point. Keep reading for ideas for changing up the flavors.

Bourbon and Coffee. Cold Brew

How To: Cold Brew

Ok I am more of a hit the button on the Keurig and go type. For this I had to learn the ways of patience for a Cold Brew Concentrate. Need to know how? Let me run it down for you:

  1. Coarsely grind whole coffee beans. If you finely grind the beans you will be drinking them.
  2. Pour 1  1/3 cups of coffee grounds in a large container, pitcher, or jar with a lid.
  3. Add 4 cups of cold water and give it a good stir.
  4. Close the lid and wait for what feels like forever ( at least 8 hours)
  5. Open the lid and strain with a fine mesh strainer.
  6. Discard grounds and now you have Cold Brew Concentrate.

Need more in-depth instructions? This is where I learned it: How to Make Cold-Brew Coffee

Bourbon and Coffee.

Bourbon in Coffee: How does it taste?

Along with the cream and chocolate the bourbon actually compliments the flavors. This drink is like a dessert or a crazy concoction from Starbucks. Trust me it is good. But like I said before, you may have to tweak to your liking.

I don’t recommend straight hot black coffee and a shot of bourbon unless you are sick with a cold and have to get out of bed. Whiskey is medicine after all.

Flavor Swaps for this Bourbon Coffee Drink

This doesn’t have to be a Mocha. Here are some flavor swaps to try! (Since you did just make a bunch of Cold Brew Concentrate you might as well get a little creative.)

  • Trade out Chocolate Syrup for Caramel Syrup
  • Use flavored whole bean coffee like vanilla, Hawaiian Coconut or hazelnut.
  • Also use flavored creamers instead of Half & Half.
  • Instead of vanilla extract use almond extract.
