INGREDIENTS
  • Hilsa fish 5-6 pieces
  • Mustered Seeds – 1tsp
  • Tarmarind paste – 2 tbsp
  • Dry Red Chillies 1-2 pieces
  • Sugar – 3 tbsp
  • Turmaric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Musterd Oil – 2 tbsp

TIME REQUIRED : 10 mins to prepare and 10 mins to cook

PROCEDURE

STEP 1

Take cleaned & washed fish. Marinate the fish with salt & turmeric powder.

STEP 2

Heat oil in a saucepan and fry the fish pieces. Hold the fish aside.

STEP 3

Then add whole spices(Mustard seed & dry red chili) & wait to crackle.

STEP 4

Add salt and turmeric then add One and a half cups of boiling water and cook in high flames. This dish should have sufficient liquid at the end. Hence adjust water as much as required.

STEP 5

Add sugar and bring it to boil. Once boiling started, add fried fish and cook for five minutes by covering the pan with lid.

STEP 6

Turn off the fire and serve with lightly steamed rice.
