Paneer Butter Masala

Paneer Butter Masala is a delicious and rich butter-based Paneer dish, cooked in a creamy gravy with the goodness of tomato and onion. This is one of the most popular main course food items in Indian restaurants.

INGREDIENTS
  • 250gm Paneer cubes
  • 2 cubes Butter
  • 1/2 Tbsp Oil
  • 2 big onions (blanch and paste)
  • 1 tsp Ginger
  • 1 tsp Garlic
  • 2 big size Tomato pure
  • 4-5 Green chilli, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 3-4 tsp cashewnut paste
  • 3-4 Green cardamom crushed
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp kasuri methi (dry fenugreek leaves)
  • 2 tbsps fresh cream
  • salt as per taste
  • sugar as per taste

TIME REQUIRED : 10 mins to prepare and 30 mins to cook

PROCEDURE

STEP 1

Heat oil in a pan. Put Paneer Cubes to it. Add salt and red chilli powder to it. Pan fry the paneer cubes.

STEP 2

Add a cup of hot water to the fried paneer cubes and let them sit in it for 5min,then drain the water and keep aside.

STEP 3

Heat 2 tbsp of butter in a pan, add cinnamon and cardamom.

STEP 4

Add the onion paste and saute till light brown.

STEP 5

Add ginger-garlic paste. Saute for few minutes. then add tomato, green chilli and mix again.

STEP 6

Add chilli pwd and combine, followed by the cashew paste and combine.

STEP 7

Add salt, , coriander powder, cumin powder, sugar. Mix well.

STEP 8

Keep stirring and let the gravy simmer and add kasoori methi.

STEP 9

Add the paneer and simmer for 4-5 minutes. Add a small cup of water and let it cook on medium heat for 10 mts or till you get the desired curry consistency. Remove from fire, stir in remaining butter and fresh cream.
