Stars

I stepped outside, feeling miles away from seeing you. You stood next to me and I could identify the stars and every unique coil of Smoke leaving your lungs as you exhaled.
I never once looked at you in these moments though - too scared to feel elated, and too vulnerable to let you place your hand on my sorry soul.
You blew your cigarette smoke in gusts of fury, burdened like you always seemed to be with the day's temporary problems. My smoke escaped just past my lips before being carried away by the selfish weather of the evening.
I vow to let someone love me before I disappear into this somber sundown.
Life is simply an evening in the eyes of the galaxy.
The world ends at every nightfall, being then reborn as morning comes. I exist only in the time between the two.
I exist only by chance with you.
I hope you realize this and grasp that even if I am temporary to you, I gave names to the constellations, and carried the heavy weight of ambiguity on my shoulders as I walked by your side
