I’ve been on a wild, wonderful, weird cross country trip this month, and I’m still out here!  So if I haven’t published in awhile, that’s why.  

But I just felt like I really should post something this weekend.  Right now, I’m at a conference that is all about marketing.  I won’t get into the details, since it’s kind of boring for Readers, but I know that most of you are friends right now (if not family!), so I feel like I can share this!

You probably know that like most writers, the idea of marketing terrifies me.  It just feels slimy.  I always picture those guys who show up at every writer’s conference, Book club, writing group, and NaNoWriMo event shoving their book in your Face and trying to get you to buy it.  I don’t feel like this sells books, and it certainly doesn’t make the author any friends.

On the other hand, I do want people to find and enjoy my work.  I’ve worked so hard on it, I would be kind of bummed if it didn’t reach at least a few readers who enjoyed it.  It’s not even about the money for me.  I just want people to meet these cool people I invented!  lol

So this weekend,  I am developing a tentative plan for “launching” a debut novel in such a way that it goes out to a group of readers that are already interested in (if not excited about) reading it.  And I’m trying to do that in a way that will actually create MORE fun for my readers, instead of just getting up in their face all the time.

No one likes to have things shoved in their face.  

So that’s coming.  And don’t worry, if I’m offering something cool, it’ll definitely be here on the website first, so if you’re already here, you’re in the right place.  

I’ll update more about my trip in a few days when I get home.  For now, it’s time for me to get back to learning!
