All around a gray mist fell, silently. Trees a hundred meters tall stood, silently. Ferns reached out from the ground, silently. Detritus decayed into the soil, silently. A Banana Slug slimed on, silently. Nature, always so full of noise, watched, silently. Time crawled on, eagerly anticipating and then with nostalgic longing.
