Day 21, story 21: The Documentarian.

Marjory flipped through her DVD collection, trying to make a decision. There were three hundred and eighty six data discs in all, with several short films on each, and each disk was dedicated to a different star.

Disk seventeen was labelled Matthew  P, and featured such titles as Matthew At The Park; Matthew At Work; and Matthew At The Post Office. Disc sixty one was labelled Lily H, and amongst her filmography were highlights like Lily Takes The Kids To School and Lily Has The Dog Put Down.

But today, Marjory was in the mood for lighter fair. She plucked out disc ten, which held eight films in all, starring a six year old girl named Mallory. Marjory fed the disc into the slot in the side of her TV, sat back, and watched for three hours as Mallory Walton ice skated, swam, rode her bike, and chatted, recited, and played through a week of school.

When the last film was finished, Marjory ejected the disc, carefully slid it back inside its envelope and put it back in its rightful slot inside the metal case that held her entire collection and snapped the twin locks shut.

She opened a small black book up to the listings under M, and circled Mallory’s address.

‘Yes,’ Marjory sighed, looking at the picture next to the listing, ‘I think I’ll try you on today.’
