Good day and welcome to my blog. It’s been a while since there’s been new poetry on this blog but don’t worry…….. The wait is over. So this Poem is titled Fame and it’s a poem I’m sure we would all relate to. In this poem, you might come across thoughts you’ve thought before or it may comprise of thoughts you’d think later on. What’s this poem about? Let’s find out. It’s time for the words of the poem to do the talking:

Fame

Fame is a disease,

A proud gallery for Deceit, The prestigious academy for hypocrites.

Cause when that limelight hits,

You suddenly feel you can do as they please.

You say one thing and do another,

Lie to your friends and your so called “brothers”.

You always pretend to care,

And we know you want to be seen as good

But is a little honesty too much to spare?

You lavish in affluence while you remain prisoners to fear,

Consumed by what happens next….when the fame disappears.

Do you have to pretend to care for the sick,

We made you famous… don’t we deserve more than deceit?

Can’t you see a you see a headline

And not reel in your fame-seeking hook and line.

Do you take us for fools?

We might be foolish but not blind to see that it isn’t the real you.

You’ve made your world into a publicity stunt

And your good is known to everyone.

You claim to feed the poor

And make it seem like you ask for nothing in return,

But a camera light flashes for every dollar that passes.

Fame becomes everything you live and breathe

So maybe it isn’t deceit…maybe you’re the one who is blind to see.

You claim to stand for something,

But you aren’t to make sacrifice.

Claim you’re ready to fight the tides,

But you never make a dive.

You want these children off the streets

And to the hungry, you want to feed

And to the homeless, a roof to sleep

And for illiterates, schools to teach

And for racism, you want to cease

But your intentions only exist in your tweets,

You never provide the means.

But what can I do….. Just admire

This beautiful intricate gallery of deceit.

And work on myself to be……

The light I want to see.
