Interview 1.42 (Ken Nwadiogbu)

Good day and welcome to my blog. Today marks the final part of my Interview with Ken, I know, sad right? But its time to say goodbye. Don’t be sad I saved the bestest (lol) for last. I promised to feature three of his art Series on this blog and that’s a promise I plan on keeping. So the purpose of this post is to feature the remaining two that I didn’t in the previous post. I chose not to congest them all in one to avoid cluster, hence this post was born. I hope you saved your amazement from the previous posts cause you’re going to need it for this one. Well enough talk let’s get to art:

Black mentality:

This series doesn’t have a story but a very deep meaning behind it. The series is about the experiences he had with fellow human beings, blacks to be precise. With his immediate environment being blacks, he could only talk about blacks, giving it its title. He wanted to use this series to talk about things that many people were afraid to talk about. The series represented a state of mind, behaviour, a mentality he labelled as black and this involved stealing, black mail. He also recently had a case of being robbed, in the past, friends who back bit him, all of this which and more inspired the series. Pride, wanting your fellow human to suffer for no reason, people wishing him dead, how people dupe and kill each other for money made him wonder if Jesus died for nothing. All these sickening acts frustrated him and he decided to speak out in the way he did best, through his art. The black mentality isn’t representing black coloured skin, its representing this evil states of mind I just mentioned and the many I left out. The series is an attempt to bring consciousness to these acts with hope that people would stop them. It’s a really wonderful one and this it:

You might have not noticed something, the highlights on the man’s face is one of a man killing another. Let that sink in first, I know right ? Wow. Don’t worry, I didn’t notice at first glance either. Time for the last series

Nylon series:

Now, this series isn’t just well drawn images of men with nylons over their faces. This series refers to the absence of attention to values, be it moral, cultural, social. It has become a trend nowadays for people to abandon values in search of pleasure, to do as you please cause it makes you feel good. This series is just to loud a consciousness to this trend with hopes that we all could see these artworks and change our mentality. With hopes we could all change and opt for better living, Living with values. I know, Amazing right?

I was really inspired and touched by this interview. And with all I’ve shown you, I think you can understand why I had to do three episodes for him. He is a very wonderful artist, that I believe even the sky isn’t the limit for. I know if you read this interview, you also loved it too.
