Good day and welcome to my blog. I know it’s been a while since you’ve heard from this blog and I’m sorry for that. Hopefully, this post is going to make up for all the time taken. So the post for today, is a Poem titled, If the youth knew… and its about the problems that the modern-day youths face. If you don’t fall within the bracket of “youth”, don’t go, you still stand to gain something. So this is the poem:

If the youth knew…

If the youth knew pornos were cocaine,

They’d have never watched the first clip.

If they knew alcohol was an assassin,

They wouldn’t have taken a single sip.

If he knew drugs weren’t his friend,

He would never had joined the trend.

He’d probably take to his heels and run,

Afraid of what he could become.

If they knew rebellion was never a solution,

It’d be a thought they’d never mention.

If they knew gambling was quicksand,

It’d be a jungle they would never explore.

If they knew, they’d have never mistaken lust for love

Because one’s a ticking time bomb,

While the other is the human condition’s drug.

If they knew the abundance of God’s love,

They’d see gold in the path offered by the Most High seated above.

And abandon the road of smoking

Because that path ultimately ends in a coffin.

If she knew that her friends would be her problem’s root,

On the day they met, she would have just kept mute.

If she knew clothes weren’t a measure of her beauty,

She’d spend less time in boutiques,

And more with the lady within.

If she knew his mission in her life was just to use,

She would have been insane to still make him her muse.

If they knew their parents were a channel not a source,

They’d never let them dictate their life’s choice

Because only the manufacturer knows the product’s purpose.

They’d speak up cautiously aware,

That no product would exist without a factory.

If they knew, that their unhealthy addiction to social media

Was the training that kept them fit,

For the race of attention span with a house fly and a goldfish.

If only they had known,

Maybe a ban on social media won’t be so distant from their heart’ wish.

If they knew, that celebrities weren’t superheroes,

They’d fight to be heard, rather than be mindless echoes.

Only if the youth knew what they needed to know

If only……. They knew.
