Interview 1.1(John Durodola).

Good day and welcome to my blog. Well, this is another episode of The Interview and I’m going to be doing the regular by introducing people with marvelous arts around the world. So sit back, relax and get ready to be marveled. In this episode, I’m introducing another talented photographer in my university. He goes by the name John Durodola and also makes use of this name for his brand. I came across his works on Instagram and almost instantly I knew he had to be featured on my blog. I quickly fell in Love with his works especially his portraits and that’s something I’m very sure won’t take long for you to do too. I had some time to get to know him more and I must say, I was really impressed. I saw someone who really loved Photography and he even taught me something new. I never knew that in an average man’s life, his picture would have been taken at least 50,000 times (pretty sure you didn’t know that too lol).  Before I give you the details, I want to show you some of his works:

Q: What was your inspiration to photography?

A: My inspiration to photography has always been my love for taking pictures. God is our master artist and the ability to document his work of art with pictures has always inspired me. That’s what drove me to buy my first camera. Also, I’ve always been fascinated by being able to freeze a moment in time with pictures, it’s like a trip into the past and that inspired me to photography.

Q: Do you feel photography is your purpose on earth or is it just secondary to you?

A: Photography is one of the reasons I’m on planet earth. I had always loved to take pictures even before it became a thing in this country. But back then, I didn’t have access to a professional camera. Since when I got one… it’s been magic all the way.

Q: Under what category of photography do you think you fall under?

A: I’m a portrait photographer… I just really love documenting emotions and reminding people of their good sides. Some people might say I work mostly with ladies but in reality I don’t discriminate, men aren’t just available.

Q: Who is your role model in photography?

A: I’ll have to say Kelechi Amadi Obi and TY bello. They sound like generic names in photography, but these people worked really hard to break the jinx and mentality that Nigerians had of photographers. I really appreciate them and hope to be better.

Q: What is the message you intend to send to the world with your art?

A: The message I intend on sending is that there’s beauty all around us and it’s our job to let the world constantly see that. And with that, people will appreciate life more and eventually the world will become a better place.

Q: What’s your ultimate goal or dream that you hope to achieve in photography?

A: My ultimate goal as a photographer is to change lives and inspire people with my work. TY bello has proved to us that it’s possible. To me, photography isn’t just another craft or a means to an end. To me, it’s a way of life. It’s amazing to know that in an average man’s life he would have taken his picture at least 50,000 times before he goes to the grave. It makes you know that everyone takes pictures and with that I want to change lives.

I hope you love what you read. As you can see, he’s very talented and if you are interested in contacting him you can make use of his Instagram handle: thejohndurodola.
