The Green Door

Tags: story main

I really wanted to love this Story and I do want to follow through the series but I think its opening story fell a little short for me. Not what I expected of Heather given how much I loved the Weaver trilogy so far. The writing for this story doesn’t seem as developed and mature. It’s almost like this story was squeezed out to fill a quota or contact agreement and felt rushed.

I love the complexity of the supporting characters but the Main 3 seem cliche and kind of vapid. They act very immature for highschool aged kids. The side characters were interesting and felt a little deeper than the main 3 and not just because they were animals, though love that part of the story line.

The story is full of action and is very much plot driven. The plot is pretty good and I’m not giving anything away. There was a lot going on in the story but the main story idea for the series is interesting and different.

This story with the exclusion of a hand full of scenes seems it could be aimed at a middle school reader rather than the YA audience. So it’s a little awkward.

It leads into the sequel nicely without a huge cliffhanger, though there was one to keep you interested in the series. The main conflict in this story was resolved but several other conflicts arose during the course of the story that I am assuming to be cleared up in the following stories.

I’m sorry to say I’m giving this book 2.5 out of 5 starts but will definitely give the next book, The Red Door, a try. I’m hoping for the best.
