Of Rioters and Royals

I’m going to start out by saying, Give this Book a chance.

I know some of you will start with the prologue and not go any further. I suggest skipping the prologue all together. It has little to offer the story since the pertinent information is scattered throughout the story anyway.

On one hand this idea that ones Abilities are linked to the color of their eyes is a unique idea, on the other it seems like it could be a basis for discrimination.  Though so far the traits of ones character is not tied to ones abilities. So there could be two different blue eyes with very different personalities and abilities. It sounds a little confusing, I know, but if you read the book you’ll get what I’m saying.

The action was fast paced and perfectly reasonable for this book though I felt that the book was a bit long and could have been broken into 2 separate stories being defined by a major event and revelation towards the middle of the book.

Summary:

Royal, Princess Emerald is having a trial event that would gain her a knight, or personal body guard. This knight would be bound to serve her for life and she knows just who she hopes will win.

Rioter Declan can not afford to lose the trials. His goal is to win, become knight, then betray the crown. He doesn’t count on the princess being someone completely different than he thought. Princesses are spoiled brats right? Boy is he wrong, and just how wrong, you will have to read and find out.

Of Rioters and Royals has great world building and fantastic characters that I would definitely read again. I would love to read what happens next in Entwined Paths.

I give this book 3.5 out of 5 stars.
