Downy Woodpeckers

“… suddenly there came a tapping,

As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.

“’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—

Only this and nothing more.”

The return of two Downies to our backyard reminded me of this poem, not remotely like Ravens! Of all their tribe, they tap the quietest and are most trusting of humans (or oblivious of us).
