A Busy Week in November - IMAGINiT at Autodesk University 2018

It’s that time of year where the leaves are falling, Pumpkin Spice is everywhere, which can only mean one thing; Autodesk University is just around the corner. Like past years IMAGINiT will have a great group of Speakers, along with a booth on the exhibition area (Booth #A221). The goal of this post is to share information about the IMAGINiT Speaker’s sessions, but before we learn about the sessions let’s get all the details about AU 2018.

This year AU Las Vegas is November 13th – 15th and will be held again at The Venetian Las Vegas. If you still haven’t got approval to go, just head over to the Autodesk University website and check out the Convince Your Boss selection for a little help.

Now for our main attraction of this post, IMAGINiT’s AU 2018 Sessions. This year IMAGINiT has 4 speakers, two from the Building Solutions Division, and two from the Manufacturing Solutions Division, that are delivering 6 sessions.

First our friends from MSD:

  • Session:  MFG197453-L
    • Date: Thursday, Nov. 15th
    • Time: 8:30 am – 10:00 am
    • Class Length: 90 Minutes
    • Class Type: Hands-on Lab
    • Topic: How Any Inventor User Can Benefit from Utilizing the Factory Design Utilities
    • Instructor: Rusty Belcher – Applications Expert, IMAGINiT Technologies
    • Class Description: Factory Design Utilities software offers unique functionality that greatly simplifies the process of laying out and visualizing a factory design. However, don't let the word "factory" limit the scope or your view of this application. Anyone who needs to lay out a space or design with a common collection of assets can take advantage of the workflow offered by Factory Design Utilities. In this class, we will look at specific functionality available in Factory Design Utilities, and demonstrate how we can use it in many other design workflows
  • Session:  MFG226232
    • Date: Tuesday, Nov. 13th
    • Time: 9:15 am – 10:15 am
    • Class Length: 60 Minutes
    • Class Type: Instructional Demo
    • Topic: Incorporating a Change-Implementation Plan into Your Change Management Workflow
    • Instructor: Pete Markovic – Sr. Solutions Consultant, IMAGINiT Technologies
    • Class Description: This instructional demo will build on the out-of-the-cloud change management solution and incorporate a change implementation plan workflow to ensure that approved changes are implemented. We will use workflow logic and predefined/ad-hoc tasks with deliverables to close the loop from an approved engineering change to an implemented engineering change.
  • Session:  MFG226291
    • Date: Thursday, Nov. 15th
    • Time: 9:15 am – 10:15 am
    • Class Length: 60 Minutes
    • Class Type: Instructional Demo
    • Topic: Escalating Your Workflow in a Timely Manner
    • Instructor: Pete Markovic – Sr. Solutions Consultant, IMAGINiT Technologies
    • Class Description: Often we need to monitor our workflows and have something happen when certain criteria is met. With Fusion Lifecycle software, we can capitalize on the escalation function in a workflow to monitor a situation and act on it. Utilizing a “timer” workspace is an efficient way to accomplish this for types of records, such as supplier audits, calibration records, or maintenance items.

Now for the BSD folks:

  • Session: BLD196297
    • Date: Tuesday, Nov. 13th
    • Time: 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm
    • Class Length: 60 Minutes
    • Class Type: Industry Talk
    • Topic: AEC Professionals Are from Mars and Owners Are from Venus
    • Instructors: Carl Storms – Solutions Consultant, IMAGINiT Technologies & Peter Costanzo – Director Facilities Management, IMAGINiT Technologies
    • Class Description: As the title suggests, what owners want (need) from BIM (Building Information Modeling) is worlds away from what architects, engineers, and contractors need to build an owner’s building. This session will discuss BIM-related challenges from the architecture, engineering, and construction professional’s and owner’s perspectives. Once an understanding of each party’s unique needs is established, a road map can be developed that will enable collaboration through design, construction, commissioning, and facilities management. A hopeful outcome of this session is to shed some light on the challenging task of understanding differences that will allow for a clear road map moving forward. The gap between the AEC side and the owner side needs to be closed to truly take BIM out of this world.
  • Session: AS196460
    • Date: Tuesday, Nov. 13th
    • Time: 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm
    • Class Length: 60 Minutes
    • Class Type: Instructional Demo
    • Topic: Dynamo Packages: Have You Tried These Yet?
    • Instructor: Carl Storms – Solutions Consultant, IMAGINiT Technologies
    • Class Description: In this session, we will explore some of the many great Dynamo packages that are available to improve your Dynamo experience. Have a little fun as we explore some of the packages that are available in the Dynamo Package Manager. We will look at packages from some of the greats—Andreas Dieckmann, Konrad Sobon, Nate Miller, and John Pierson, to name a few. And we’ll examine packages that can work with Navisworks software, Microsoft Excel, landscape design, and more. We will also touch on how to deploy Dynamo packages company-wide. While the general flow of this class will be fun, we will look at lots of helpful packages that can increase your productivity as well.
  • Session: AS196617
    • Date: Wednesday, Nov. 14th
    • Time: 2:45 pm – 3:45 pm
    • Class Length: 60 Minutes
    • Class Type: Panel
    • Topic: Your Revit File Is Not My Revit File
    • Instructors: Carl Storms – Solutions Consultant, IMAGINiT Technologies & Peter Costanzo – Director Facilities Management, IMAGINiT Technologies
    • Class Description: It’s hard to believe that Revit software has been around for nearly 20 years, but we can’t seem to agree on how to work together with it. This simple fact is the basis for this panel session. Here in 2018, we’ve come a long way from the early days of Revit, but we still can’t seem to get out of our silos and really work together. Sure, we can collaborate on projects, but we still don’t really know what our fellow disciplines need in their Revit models—and, by extension, what we could put in our models to improve theirs. But what if we just asked the other disciplines what they needed? This will be a moderated panel discussion, with 7 different Revit disciplines represented: architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, construction, FM/Owner/Operator, and Software/Revit.

If you don’t get a chance to see the IMAGINiT speaker you wanted to, then you come visit us at booth #A221, the IMAGINiT booth in the exhibition hall. You might also want to stop by our sister company Ascent’s booth, #A210 for some excellent Autodesk Courseware.

Hope to see you in Vegas!

Carl
