With so much information now available on entrepreneurship, there’s no excuse not to do your research if you are thinking of giving up that traditional career to start your own business as an entrepreneur.

The idea is you don’t have to reinvent the wheel when others who have failed and succeeded are out there to give you the best tips, tricks, and hacks possible to help you get there faster and easier.

The problem is there is so much great information out there that it’s difficult to know where to start. I’ve found that these five websites are great for those considering the role of entrepreneur as well as for those already in the midst of building their startup:

This website offers a continual feed of informative content that covers everything from online trends to business tips to entrepreneurial information from founder David McClure. There is considerable information on startups and funding ideas as well as business trends, the global business environment, and industry issues. I regularly read this blog because of the insightful content.

This comprehensive website serves the entrepreneur in training as well as well as the small business owner. It has one of the largest online resource centers for small businesses, including tools and content designed to cover all aspects of your operations. Their how-to articles are a must if you are looking to improve various aspects of your business, including everything from HR to IT. There are many writers and editors that contribute to the website, offering a wealth of voices and backgrounds that enrich the content provided.

I particularly enjoy this site because of seeing both sides of a business relationship discussed at the same time within the same article helps me understand the other side of the table.

4. Docracy

This website is more of a practical suggestion for new and existing entrepreneurs. It serves as the Internet’s only open collection of legal contracts. Other features include the ability to negotiate and sign documents online. Every business has important documents that require some type of legal framework, so this site helps keep it accurate and affordable for your limited budget. I like this site because it saves me so much time and money.

5. Entrepreneurship.org

Founded by the Kauffman Foundation, an organization directed at assisting and growing entrepreneurship in America, this website has a wealth of resources. The resources include academic, business, and institutional sources across multiple topics like HR, business operations, public policy, entrepreneurship, marketing and sales, accounting and finance, and products and services.

You can search by topic, audience, and type of content (article, blog, audio, file and link) as well as by Kauffman programs. The content provides a way for anyone to get started with the most relevant and accurate information about the “how-tos” of starting and running a business. I use this site almost weekly for research to add to content I am generating for my business.

These five websites can get anyone up and running with their pursuit of entrepreneurship. The information on all the sites is free, easily accessible, and straightforward. Thanks to helpful sites like these you can get your business started, managed correctly and run it with greater confidence.
