CyrusOne Volunteers at the North Texas Food Bank during Sales Kickoff Conference

Every year, CyrusOne team members from around the world get together for our Sales Kickoff (SKO) conference. At our event, we celebrate the previous year’s accomplishments and customer successes and ignite the competitive spirit in everyone to reach our goals this year. But business goals aren’t the only things that we get competitive about!

For the past two years, we’ve held our SKO in our headquarters city of Dallas, which has included volunteering at the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB). We’re big fans of this organization which distributes donated and purchased food throughout 13 local counties to adults and children in need.

At the Food Bank, we turned our volunteer work into a competition as further motivation to prepare and package as many meals as possible. And boy, did it get competitive! Eighty-eight CyrusOne employees were divided into three meal preparation teams, two for senior adult meals and the other for kids.

The result was impressive! The “food for kids” team packaged 7,140 meals and the two “senior adults” teams combined to package nearly 30,000 pounds of food. In total, CyrusOne team members gave 320 volunteer hours or 2.5 hours per person, and we enjoyed every minute of it! The team members who participated said that they enjoyed giving back to the local community and spending quality time with each other in a non-office environment.

Although this is only the second year that we have done this volunteer activity, CyrusOne has had a strong relationship with the North Texas Food Bank since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. During those times of uncertainty when many families were unable to work or lost jobs due to the pandemic, the NTFB was in dire need to help an extraordinarily large number of families who were dealing with food scarcity issues. In lieu of being able to volunteer in person due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, CyrusOne made a $250,000 corporate donation, as well as a $50,000 personal donation from our CEO at the time.

Every year, CyrusOne and its employees are proud to participate in a variety of charities and organizations across the globe, including partnerships, fundraising, and food drives with the North Texas Food Bank in Texas, The Trussel Trust in the UK, Tafel in Germany, and The Amsterdam Food Bank in the Netherlands. CyrusOne also supports the Knowledge is Power Program, Carry The Load, Girl Scouts of the USA, Midtown Educational Foundation, Light The Night Cincinnati, Girlstart – STEM Education, Katy Trail 5K, March of Dimes, Big Brothers Big Sisters Community Partners of Dallas, Cotes de Coeur (American Heart Association) and Relay For Life.

In the future, CyrusOne plans to continue giving back to and staying active in the communities that we live and work in across the globe. Through volunteering, donations, and general support, we will continue to engage in community efforts whenever and wherever we can.
