In terms of North Cyprus Distances – nowhere is that far to drive in Cyprus! From the most south-westerly tip of the Akamas Peninsula in the south of the island to St Andrew’s Monastery at the far north-easterly tip of the Karpaz Peninsula, the drive would be around 186miles (300km) and take you about 4.5 hours.

Despite North Cyprus having been a British colony and despite the cars driving on the left as in the UK, all road signs and North Cyprus distances are calculated in Kilometers, not miles. The maximum official speed limit is 100km per hour (62 miles per hour).

Some of the roads in North Cyprus are very good and some are less good – and speed limits vary wildly with traffic cameras regularly placed on certain roads. The harbour town of Kyrenia (Girne) and cities of Famagusta and Nicosia (Lefkosa) also suffer from traffic congestion at rush hour times, so this will obviously increase your driving time if part of your route.
