Through our Teacher Appreciation nominations, we were able to see exactly how our teachers are impacting our kids and community. We want to recognize each nomination that has come in. 1495 unique nominations and 525 teachers nominated, we are sharing the answers to our question posed: “Why does this teacher make you smile?”. The blogs are organized by last name of the teacher.

Teacher:  Marquise Camp, Western High School  

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? He is always there when you need help. He will let you take your time as well. He waits if you’re not finished. He also encourages you to do work and to try your best if you don’t get it. But overall, he is a great teacher, always there when you need help.

He’s a good person. By this I mean nice, positive. He doesn’t say anything and is always positive with a great attitude. When someone needs help he’s always there. good person, he’s good at everything he knows how to teach, and we always learn.

He’s funny.

Mr. Camp sets a great example not only as a teacher but also as someone you can genuinely look up to the reason i think this is because he is always pushing for everyone to learn but i see him as an example to me because you can talk to him he always seem approachable and i feel like a lot of his students and even kids that aren’t his students are always in his room before class talking with him about not only school stuff but things from home too. Another reason he is one of my teachers that I lookup to is because I feel like I can relate to him. It’s kind of funny people keep asking if i am his son because we are both light skinned and have long dreads. But i think it’s cool that i can make a connection to Mr. Camplike that because i think that he is just setting a great example even with school he is always not only telling us to always pursue our education, but he is doing the same thing.

My teacher makes me smile by helping the whole class but once he’s done explaining the lesson, he asks every 5 mins does anybody need my help. He’s always here and makes the lesson actually fun.

This teacher makes me smile because he is always there for us and his students. He always explains everything very well and is extremely patient with us. He is always very kind and gives us advice. I feel like he should be nominated because he really deserves a lot for all the help he has given. He is also always in a great mood with a big smile, and he is very welcoming.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Ms. Campbell is very kind and supportive, and she’s just very pleasant to be around!

Teacher:  William Campf, Garehime elementary school

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile?  He teachers Kinder & has 32 kids and always has a smile on his face. He also stays after and tutors’ kinder students that need extra help. He is a model teacher and is the best at what he does.

Teacher:  Raquel Campolla, Cozine Elementary School

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Because she is nice and helps me when I need help.

Mrs. Campolla is an amazing teacher. Being a teacher is something she decided to do later in life after her children were grown. She is very passionate about teaching and helping the children understand. She also coaches soccer for the kids. She is constantly reaching out to parents to let us know how our kids are doing in school. Being a teacher isn’t a job for her, it’s something she loves doing. Mrs. Campolla deserves to be recognized for all of the wonderful things she does for our children.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? This teacher makes me smile because she is an awesome human being. She is very joyful and has a creative and fun personality!

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile?

He has done over 500 episodes of morning announcements. He works hard for the dance and choir team. He did a lot of this work by himself last school year and was constantly overwhelmed but persevered. He choreographed the kindergarten dance for their graduation. He MC’s all of our events. He wants the best for students and the students all know it. Kaymen’s hard work never goes unnoticed, and the school has been a brighter place because of him!

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Ms. Casaus has a very infectious positive attitude. She has so much passion for her craft and every time I see her she smiles, which makes me smile.

She feels like an actual friend to me, not just a teacher, she is actually interested in helping you out and making sure you understand the lesson we’re learning that day. I appreciate her a lot because I trust her, and I feel like I can actually talk to her without feeling judged or backed down from speaking how I feel. She’s such a great person and everyone that has her class should be grateful because she’s a one-of-a-kind teacher.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Even when she is mad at me, she makes a complaint in a joke so she won’t upset me! Best teacher ever!

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? This teacher makes me smile by making me laugh and being patient with everyone.

Teacher:  Ysabelle Catu, Jack Schofield Middle School

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Ms. Catu always gives her all for her students and cares deeply for her craft. It makes me smile to feel her care and to see her dedication.

She does an amazing job at teaching choir and making it fun. She is very sweet and helps with anything that you need help with. She picks out amazing songs for us to learn and perform. Ms. Catu is an amazing teacher! (She is my favorite, but don’t tell anyone;)

Teacher:  Warnke Cecily, Cashman Middle School

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Because she’s a good teacher and the service dog that she has in her class always makes me smile when I’m in her class.

Teacher: Kellie Lee Chabot, West career and Technical Academy

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile?  Ms. Chabot is a very kind teacher, who makes her classroom feel like a safe space, where a student is allowed to express themselves and their opinions freely without judgment. She helps students learn and succeed on their AP exams as well, but that’s a small part compared to everything else she does. She makes sure no student is left behind and takes notice of when a student is struggling, whether that be socially or academically. She makes it known that her door is always open if we need to talk, vent, or ask for help on an assignment. I had the pleasure of being one of her AP Lang students during my junior year of high school (2021-2022), and this year I have the pleasure of being one of her student aids (2022-2023). Ms. Chabot is a perfect candidate for this award and deserves recognition for all her hard work. I say with 100% confidence that I trust and admire this teacher the most out of all my teachers from pre-k to this year as a high school senior.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Because he taught me things that I didn’t know about the guitar and because of him and my dad I’m the best guitar player in Nevada, so he makes me smile because of all his hard work put into me to be the best I could be at something I loved doing. Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? This teacher is my middle child Kindergartener teacher. She is amazing. She goes beyond with the students, wanting them to go to school every day and learning. My son comes home every day telling me all the new things he has learned and achieved. My son always tells me how he loves his teacher and how they always do new creative things with toys, songs, and turning in work. He is always excited to get ready to go to school. She’s an amazing teacher! So organized, outgoing, caring, and listens to the students and parents. She sent activities home for the students to work on to help with learning. (Even though it is not required). She is always on top of her game.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? This teacher makes me smile because she is kind, and she helps us if we need something. She also makes adjustments to our theater roles if we don’t feel comfortable playing that part. She is a kind and loving teacher.

Teacher:  Amber Clark, Las Vegas Academy of the Arts

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile?  DJ’ing in the quad, running basketball camp, BSU advisor and her attitude that every day is a great day to have a great day are just a few of the reason’s she makes me smile. Ms. Clark is positive in all interactions with her students, whether assigning homework or passing in the hall. Her classroom is filled with students’ hands up, wanting to participate. Teaching math is difficult. Yet, she has students engaged, talking, laughing and having fun in math. In my 34 years in education, I have not met someone with a consistent positive attitude and impact on students.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? He was always nice to me. When I have problems, he is one of the teachers who is willing to spend all day helping me till I get it.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile?  I don’t have you anymore, but you are always one of my most memorable teachers. You changed my habits and thoughts drastically and I will always cherish that. I miss you and I am so happy for all of your progress and new life experiences.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Alyssa has stepped up in so many ways as a first-year teacher. She goes above and beyond for her kiddos. She is diligent in all that she does and is such an inspiring young teacher. It has been such a pleasure working alongside her and watching her grow. Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Mr. Corpuz goes above and beyond for his students. He connects with them and inspires them to do their very best. He helps them become the best versions of themselves.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Ms. Cosey is an outstanding teacher. She goes above and beyond for all her students. She stays extra time before and after school to tutor for students that need extra help. She has great communication skills with parents which helps put our minds at ease when our children are in school. I wish I had a teacher like Ms. Cosey when I was younger. Just by meeting her you can tell she truly cares about each of her students. She does not treat her job like just any job she is truly passionate about teaching. Anyone lucky to have Ms. Cosey teach their children is really blessed. We NEED more teachers like Ms. Cosey!

Why this teacher makes me smile is because she has always helped me during my credit retrieval class and pushed me to finish it before they discontinued the program, she also supported me when I decided to the magnet school application. Finally, she’s just a really fun person to talk to when you get to know her.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile?  Mrs. Cruise is a wonderful teacher. She goes out her way to make sure her students are happy and smiling. Anytime my daughter Kailani is upset Mrs. Cruise Will personally reach out to me to try to fix any issues she may behaving. You can tell she really cares about her students and it’s not just a job.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile?  She Makes my bad days great, she is bright like the morning sun , she makes me smile because she is always positive, there’s always love in her kind words and she gives me memories to have for the rest of my life she makes kinder a wonderful adventure and encourages all of us to be ready for school every day she has dedication and love for what she does best teach.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile?  Ms. Cureg makes me smile and inspires me because of the motivating words she tells me and whenever I do something correctly, she will give me snacks. Ms. Cureg doesn’t just teach but prepares all of her students for a big future ahead of them. She makes many sacrifices for her students that go unnoticed, and Ms. Cureg truly cares for all her students well-being. She also made all the work she gives her students very easy and understandable. Ms. Cureg is a very amazing and sweet teacher!!!

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? My teacher motivates me, and she makes me smile. She always helps me when I need help even if I try her patience. She’s just so patient with me and because of this, I don’t hesitate to ask for help. She gives me compliments and also rewards for doing my assignments. She also rescued me when my mom was about to kick me out of the house because she sent my mom a positive message about me!!!

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile?  This teacher makes me smile because she is always helping me out if I don’t understand and helps make teaching fun. She is always prepared and will help out. She explains everything and is very sweet. She always helps me out even if it isn’t teaching. She is there for me and helps give advice. If I am feeling down, she helps and gives me a boost of encouragement. She doesn’t treat people unfairly and brings each student to their best potential. Even on bad days, she always has a sweet attitude and won’t bring out anger onto us, only smiles. Ms.Cureg is one of my favorite teachers and I believe she deserves so much. One of my favorite things my teacher does is always complimenting me and she always tries her best to have a smile on her face, in summary, her smile is very contagious!!! In addition, she’s individually helped us on an engineering competition and provided us with resources and snacks to make sure we were doing well. She helped me learn various ways to work with other people and made it fun. I learned processes of building and how engineers make models and ways to find a solution for prototypes.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? What my math teacher does makes me smile in many ways. She always makes sure that I’m on task and teaches math in ways that I understand and is super helpful in general. She always has a smile on her face and knows how to cheer me up. Especially how she is always willing to help me out which led me to do an engineering project and taught me how to work with others, come up with new ideas and use my creativity. The fact she made me connect Math into the real word was something that I enjoyed, and I will not forget the experience I learned from it!!!

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Dr Cushinery’s leadership and influence on my son’s life is unprecedented. He isa great human being, supportive, understanding, and compassionate. My son went through a lot of psychological hardship over recent years and Dr.Cushinery’s help and support is greatly appreciated. My son is looking up to his teacher. He trusts him and treats him as a mentor and a friend. Both as a human and musician. This is what all teachers should be like.

Teachers play a significant role in our lives, and we are thankful for them and all they do for our community every single day. We understand how important their job is in student development and learning and know they work tirelessly to educate children and add value to their lives! Thank you, you are our heroes!
