Humans have long considered death as a universal experience, but none of humanity's perspective about it is universal.

While death will happen to everyone and everything that lives, sometimes, the living considers the way someone dies matter more than death itself.

In Ciamis, West Java in Indonesia, people were shocked and deeply disturbed by the gruesome murder.

The suspect known as Tarsum, a 41-year-old man, murdered his wife, Yanti, a 40-year-old woman, at their home in Dusun Sindangjaya.

If hearing a man murdering his wife is not harrowing enough, neighbors who witnessed the crime, found that Tarsum also mutilated Yanti.

Tarsum, a goat seller, a deranged, mentally-unstable murderer.

And, if that is not disturbing enough, Tarsum allegedly attempted to distribute the hacked-up remains of his wife to neighbors.

Tarsum was found bringing his mutilated wife, like pieces of meat.

He went out of his house, walked a few hundred meters, before started 'offering' passersby what was, or were once his wife.

"Would you like to buy some meat?" he allegedly asked people.

In a video that went viral on the internet, heavily shared on social media, a person managed to capture the moment Tarsum brought the pieces of his wife.

After the man left to fetch the remaining pieces of his wife, after putting some of what he could bring in front of a neighbor's house, the witness dared to walk closer, before he screamed in disbelief.

What he saw was, a woman in a white underwear, wearing a house dress, but tucked to the top, but only her torso.

Then, there was a mutilated arm and a mutilated leg, as well as some of her internal organs in her a large red basin.

Shocked by this horrifying discovery, the neighbors promptly reported the incident to the village chief, Yoyo Tarya.

An arm, severed from below the elbow, and a severed leg, and some internal organs in a red basin.
Yanti, only her torso, with no limbs attached.

"At first, I didn't know there had been a murder. Shortly after that, I heard Tarsum's cries mentioning his wife's remains as if he was not in his right mind," he further said.

Yoyo then promptly reported the incident to the authorities, who then arrested the suspect.

Yanti’s remains were retrieved for an autopsy at Ciamis Hospital.

A cold blooded murder, in broad daylight.

While the police investigate, neighbors said that Tarsum’s daily life appeared ordinary, and he was known to socialize with residents.

Confused and everyone else, the neighbors also seek answers about the motive behind the crime, as the perpetrator appeared to be an ordinary man with no prior history of violence.

Local leaders, religious figures, and community members have organized vigils and prayer gatherings to mourn the loss of Yanti, the victim.

It's then revealed that Tarsum hit Yanti with a stick, before murdering her with a knife.

And with that same knife, he cut Yanti to pieces, in the middle of the road, in broad daylight.

About three days before the tragic incident, rumors suggest that Tarsum was under stress, believed to be due to financial constraints, and had been visited by debt collectors.

Allegedly, their son was addicted to online gambling, and that he owe more than Rp 100 million (about $6,000).

Tarsum, who is a goat seller in the village, considered that amount significant, and that he quarreled with Yanti, allegedly for protecting their son.

Among other reasons, this affected Tarsum's mental health.

"If there are family problems, I don't know," Yoyo said.
