The ‘Manipulated’ Photo Of Kate Middleton, A Photoshop Failure That Demanded A 'Kill Notice' By Agencies

10/03/2024

Zoom in, and details will unveil.

In the modern days of technology, it's extremely easy to snap a Photo and share it for the world to see. And thanks to modern-day devices, it's very easy for anyone who wishes to become sleuths, to see flaws in others.

And Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, is one obvious target, especially after being months away from the public eye following an abdominal surgery and conspiracy theories swirling around her disappearance.

As Kate finally broken her silence, keen-eyed internet users found that the photo she shared on Instagram is actually an edited photo, and not an original.

This happened when Kate Middleton shared an unseen family photo on Mother’s Day, which in the UK, is celebrated on March 10th.

The image showed the mother of three, 42, sitting on a chair at the family’s home in Windsor, surrounded by her and Prince William’s three children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.

"Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months," Kate captioned on her Instagram post.

"Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day," she added, signing off with her initial "C," which stands for her maiden name, Catherine.

But looking the photo a bit closer, it's certain that it has been edited.

Eagle-eyed internet users quickly spotted something that shouldn't be in the photo. Next to Kate's left hand, which doesn't have a wedding ring, there is an apparent Photoshop mishap.

As a result of this, according to reports, the Associated Press (AP) Reuters, Agence France-Presse (AFP) and Getty Images have issued a "kill notice" to media outlets around the globe.

These major photo agencies have all stated that they had each deleted the Mother’s Day image of the Princess of Wales and her children, from their libraries.

The photo agencies believe the photograph of Prince William’s wife and children aren't real, and have been altered from the original.

"At closer inspection it appears that the source has manipulated the image," a message from the AP reads.

Kate Middleton posted her photo after a successful abdominal surgery.

Public figures often have a dedicated team assigned to operate and manage their social media accounts. This allows consistency, proper strategic planning and content creation, the ability to engage, and monitor.

And because public figures have to maintain their public persona at its very best, pretty much all of their photos are manipulated in one way or another, just to make them look good.

The same goes to Kate, which is a member of British royal family.

And this failed Photoshop edit has created quite a commotion.

While major agencies have issued a statement to not use the photo, the failure is not a big issue for the royal family.

Kate has not deleted the photo, and that the photo remains on her account.
