A Russian Nurse Was 'Too Hot' That She Went Viral As People Praise And Mock Her

18/05/2020

In Russia, the first case of Covid-19 'coronavirus' was confirmed on 31 January 2020.

At that time, the virus entered the borders when two Chinese citizens in Tyumen, Siberia, and Chita tested positive for the novel virus. The rest is history, because by April 2020, cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed in all major cities in Russia.

In May, or two months after the the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak as a pandemic, many people are trying to understand what this disease actually is.

With cure and vaccines still on the works, many people in Russia are still struggling to cope with the change they must experience, and that they are urged to visit the hospital, or quarantine themselves in order to help curb the spread.

And in Tula, a city located about 200 kilometers from Moscow, a "naughty" Nurse went viral due to the way she dressed.

Under her Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suit, she left little to the imagination.

In the photos that went viral, seemingly taken candidly by her patients, it is seen that the nurse was on her shift at an men's COVID-19 patient wing, wearing no external clothing under her PPE besides her undergarment.

Because her PPE is more transparent than it is translucent, anyone can see how she was nearly nude.

As a result, the hospital punished the nurse for "non-compliance with the requirements for medical clothing."

And according to the Russia's Health Ministry, "a disciplinary sanction was applied to the nurse of the infectious diseases department who violated [uniform] requirements."

In her defense, the nurse told her managers at Tula Regional Clinical Hospital that she was "too hot" to wear any clothing underneath the head-to-toe vinyl gown, which protected her from contracting COVID-19.

"They understood that nobody knows how hot it is to work in a protective suit in summer. It is as if you spend several hours in a sauna. It even becomes hard to breathe and walk," she said.

She also claimed that she did not realize that she was revealing herself too much through the PPE.

It's worth noting that the hospital administration originally claimed that the woman, which is in her 20s, had been wearing "lingerie."

Later, the hospital tried to clarify that the two-piece "undergarment" the "overheated" nurse was using, was possibly a "swimming suit."

However, she was in fact a sports clothing from ZASPORT.

The World Health Organization recommends all health care workers to use PPE so they can keep themselves safe and prevent transmission of COVID-19 in health facilities.

But according to the Global Heat Health Information Network, anyone wearing the full range of PPE can indeed develop "heat stress" and a rise in core body temperature. For this reason, health care workers have to stay hydrated, and reduce clothing layers underneath their PPE.

In this case, the nurse reduced her clothes too much that she caused quiet a stir on the media and the internet.

While there were reportedly "no complaints" from the nurse's patients, at least one patient said there was "some embarrassment."

Regardless, the nurse was suspended.

After the photos went viral, the woman became an international sensation, where many users cracked jokes about her bedside manners. Comments on social media platforms range from disgust to amusement and praise.

"At least someone kept a sense of humor in these dark times," said one of the commenters.

"At least she raised the mood of the patients," another person said.

The hot nurse kept her identity a secret, and preferred to remain unidentified. However, some outlets have been referring to her as “Nurse Nadia.”

In her first detailed interview, the woman who could no longer remain a secret, is revealed to be Nadia Zhukova.

She confessed she was "still embarrassed to talk about it.”

"I understand what day this photo was taken, but how this spread so quickly over the internet is still a mystery to me. I remember that I returned from my shift, and (people were) already sharing with me the link to the story."

The first thing she did when she knew she went viral, was closing her social media accounts.

"Of course, I recognized myself and immediately closed my social network accounts [...] I was not ready for such attention,” she said.

According to her, going viral around the world was “just awful." But still, she praised her colleagues for their support.

Even Vladimir Putin’s former bodyguard Alexey Dyumin, Governor of Tula region, strongly backed her.

As support flooded in, the initial disciplinary move against her was reversed.

"What helped me at that moment? My job. I continued to go on my shifts, and it is very pleasant that my colleagues and the whole team supported me."

"They encouraged me: ‘Don’t worry! You're a beautiful one!"

"The chief doctor of our hospital (Dr Anna Savishcheva), and even the governor of the Tula region (Alexey Dyumin), also spoke in my defence - thank you very much [...] "

"Doctors from other cities set up flash mobs to support me."

It was also fortunate for Nadia, because the fuss came before Russia’s Medic Day, which is considered a professional holiday for doctors and nurses.

Founder of the sportswear Nadia was using, Anastasia Zadorina, called Nadia "one of the symbols of the coronavirus era."

"This is a young, beautiful and very brave girl, who makes her big contribution to the fight against COVID."

Zadorina, who is the daughter of FSB colonel-general Mikhail Shekin, founded ZASPORT, and has a track record of promoting clothing adorned with patriotic and anti-Western slogans.

But despite her new fame and role as a model, Nadia is determined continue her studies to become a doctor.

"My goal is to go to medical university,” she said.

"I will apply this summer. The main thing for me is to become a good doctor and help people."
